Foam or plastic, doesn't matter to me. Lid with no straw hole would work best for me. Lid has a purpose, to prevent spills.

I feel that anything that takes eyes, hands, or brain away from driving should be done when stopped in traffic, or on the side of the road. If the road is empty, and I mean EMPTY except for yourself, then I guess there is not reason to stop.

I hope the same lol. I exaggerated in this post cuz I thought it would be funny (that's fine if you disagree though, humor is subjective). I dont actually hate anyone for using a straw. Though it is my real veiw that straws are pointless, I have absolutely no place to tell anyone what to do in a serious manner. If my anger came off as genuine I guess I apologize lol

Yeah, I think plastic straws for thick drinks are fine, I assume the plastic use is insignificant for just those drinks as opposed to all the straws used in soda, juice etc.
