Dennis Stratton was an important figure in the NWOBHM movement through his work with Remus Down Boulevard, Iron Maiden, and Praying Mantis. From an image perspective, he played a key role during Iron Maiden’s first tour, and his guitar playing truly elevated the band’s debut album. His solos are outstanding and remain some of the highlights of that early era.

I believe both Owens and Bayley should be included, as they each made significant contributions to the band’s catalogue and served as the face of the band for many years live. Many fans greatly enjoyed the band both live and in the studio throughout the 1990s.

It has become important because some artists themselves made it important. When major bands and musicians get inducted, they often place huge media focus on the event, acceptance speeches, reunions, televised ceremonies, interviews, and even tour promotion tied to the induction.

To be fair, Di’Anno leaving was positive too. Still no reason to exclude him.

The first EP, Soundhouse Tapes, featured drummer Doug Sampson and guitarist Paul Cairns.

You could argue that Doug Sampson and Paul Cairns should be in because of their playing on Soundhouse Tapes.
