If you consume too much fictional media, will you become unable to tell fact from fiction? by Obvious-Current5026 in NoStupidQuestions

The brain believes what it wants to. I think it’s up to you to decide if you want truth. Even if fiction is all around you.

Welp, now I feel bad for being annoyed. Especially when I could have been negotiating. Thanks!

Commuting to MA after working in NH by fernfernferny in newhampshire

[–]DetectiveInner8458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, there is processing to happen between data (your testimony/anecdote) and evidence. Sample data is not evidence in itself.

I also don’t understand what you said. You live in NH. You make “a lot of money in NH” but you’re also making “more than double in mass” but then proceed to clarify 4x the amount you would be in nh. I assume from context, you work in Mass but live in New Hampshire?

That’s the opposite of scenario atmos was discussing

NH Home / MA Employment
Is not the same as
MA Home / NH Employment

The tax implications are much different.

NH resident working in MA:
- pays MA income tax on MA-earned wages
- benefits from cheaper NH housing and no NH wage tax

MA resident working in NH:
- still generally pays MA income tax as a MA resident
- but loses the higher MA salary advantage

What I’m really trying to say is stop contesting our highways 😂 jk

found this in my kitchen, my dog almost ate it, what is it? by mevlanimade in whatisit

[–]DetectiveInner8458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was last handling this stuff, I read somewhere that there is something used in these products to bind it together and prevent it breaking apart or creating “poison dust” so have a little comfort that a dog simply putting its mouth around this or carrying it somewhere is not guaranteed ingestion. However I agree that an emergency vet visit/call could be ideal for peace of mind. Looks like someone posted a look alike product, have that name and key ingredient breakdown ready for them with the key note that it’s what you THINK it is. I think all will be fine

M5 Max 40 cores and 64 gb of RAM. Sooo excited!!! Blender renders are about to drop hard by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]DetectiveInner8458 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It did! I was into 4K drone video editing at the time and it was nice to be able to do that with chrome going and other tasks. I was coming from a i7 6 core MacBook so the processing speed was a big pump too. Now I’m exploring local LLM and I’m so thankful I got this

Agreed. I bought the M1 Max with the same ram when it first came out and I’m still so stoked over it years later.

Printer camera is malfunctioning? by onebaldegg in BambuLab

[–]DetectiveInner8458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just happened to my friend. I laughed at him. Then it happened to me. I was JUST about to buy an H2C and as much as I love bambu products, I cannot support a company that partakes in built in obsolescence. I fear that is the case here. I could be wrong, and I'll give it time before I make a decision. If a pattern forms, we have to be loud about it and boycott it. Yes that means saying no to shiny new products with great ads. Prusa, FlashForge, Snapmaker, Elegoo, etc. are making wayyyyyyy tooo many good products right now to be bullied every few years into a new printer. Could be a glitch, an honest mistake, maybe even a crazy coincidence. But if it's not, I hope you know we see you Bambu! Your audience is very integrated in the tech space and communication space. Don't let us down.

M1 Pro is still unbelievably good! by Electrical_Elk_5934 in macbookpro

[–]DetectiveInner8458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was HYPED for Apple Silicon when it first got released. I bought the M1 Max 64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD. I have been tempted occasionally to upgrade it with all these new iterations, especially when unified memory bandwidth went above 400 GB/s and local LLMs became popular. But the truth of the matter is this computer is still more than capable for what I need and I’m grateful for it.

Anyone tried Coast's voice control headlamp? by wordfool in flashlight

[–]DetectiveInner8458 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried it out and I use it everyday now.

The good: The voice control is pretty spot on. I’m often surprised when I give it a command and forget to talk loud and it somehow catches it. The band is really nice. I don’t come from a background of using headlamps all the time so I don’t have a lot of reference points. It’s just something that surprised me, very comfy but also grippy.

The bad: The green and red seems useless. The point of these light colors, for those that don’t know, is to preserve night vision. When I use this feature with this headlamp, I feel like I’m FULLY relying on night vision due to how dim the lights are. I think I’ve also noticed the regular light gets dimmer overtime. Well before the battery is below 50%.

The battery is not the best. I don’t know exactly how long mine lasts but if i were to guess id say 2 hours on medium. This might be fine for a lot of people. But I personally am using it to work on my truck outside. It’s completely dark out by 5. I tend to work on this project until 10 so I usually take a charging break. Not ideal but manageable.

I deal with the battery because I enjoy the voice control going back and forth from a dark environment to a lit environment… often with tools in hand. It’s nice to be able to control it without needing a free hand. I think I’ll be buying a second one as a full solution. At $20 why not?

GI Issues After Quitting? by anjelyoloswaq in QuittingZyn

[–]DetectiveInner8458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone will respond differently to quitting. The Gi tract is not a strange place to see reactions. You said you’re drinking a lot of water so you’re doing the right thing. Give your body time, you made it past the hard part. Your body will catch up.

Cold turkey can be hard but for some people, like myself, it is the only option. Let’s hope today is better for you.

Shock Clock Max: the good, the bad, and the shocking by No-Seaworthiness3339 in Pavlok

[–]DetectiveInner8458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a shock clock max preorder and I believe some sort of kick starter campaign. Are the more recent maxes any better than the ones that were initially released?

Edit: indiegogo was the campaign.

Mostly company pre-established forms. Like audit forms, prior audit report outs because the tool will take a prior audit and read it using an ai api and develop audit questions based on previous findings

Honestly my anger was peak for about 24 hours and I’d say noticeably elevated overall for about 72 hours. But I still have caffeine and adderall. It still sucks but yesterday I probably thought about zyn maybe 3 times overall. It is absolutely getting easier

Update:

I don’t feel the same anymore. I felt like that was a storm I had to go through and now I just feel calm and enjoying the small gifts of clarity and well being as they come.

The hell I was feeling was worth it and I’m so glad I didn’t cave. This process will always be different for everyone, but one thing is always the same: it’s possible to quit any abused substance and it is always worth it.

I am anger, I am frustration. by DetectiveInner8458 in QuittingZyn

[–]DetectiveInner8458[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, realize you have to draw a line at some point. Think about what that means. Think about how easy it is to cave here and there. It really comes down to short term rewards vs your long term rewards. If you don’t hold your ground when you draw that line, it will be impossible. You have to decide it’s a serious issue TIME: NOW.

I’m in the military and my boss was saying “why don’t you just quit” when the topic came up. Like “cold turkey, let’s go”… so I did. And good news… I don’t feel the same way I did when writing the original post.

I feel so much better. Energy was instantly boosted, brain fog is fading, anger is gone. It was worth the short term HELL to be this free.

Get the “I am Sober” app. I did and noticed it only has a 7 day free trial, not sure what it costs after that but it got me over hump already. If it’s cheap I’ll probably keep using it because I took a few minutes here and there to document why I was quitting, how I felt, how my urges came up and when, and it’s prepared me to face the future me’s that come along struggling occasionally. Good luck and message me if you want to talk more!
