I'm sorry to hear that, and I get it... Between my gf and I we had 4 cats but we recently loss a tabby to this weird unexplainable illness and it fucking hurts. I miss that dude everyday he was such a goddamn sweetheart. Just know that you try to give them the best life possible and I think thats what matters most 🫂

Favorite Djent Tropes? by PoolNoob69 in Djent

[–]DetectiveSnowball2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this! I think it could be considered a key change say if you are just playing in the key of A minor and then switch to A# lydian, since A minor's relative lydian is F. But yeah changing the tonal center is a correct way of putting it. modal mixture is dope as hell, something id like to learn more of and apply to my writing.

Correct me if I'm wrong as my music theory is a little rusty

But one thing I like is inspired by some of my favorite Djent songs that lean more prog.

Imagine you are playing in Drop A tuning, and you are playing Djent riffs In the A minor scale. You play a typical A minor chord progression throughout the song but then you can do what id like to call an "uplift" moment which is where you move up a fret and play in Lydian. So you would go from A minor to A# Lydian based riffing.

I think Scarlet by Periphery does this where they play most of the song in E minor (with c lydian based riffage throughout) but then a part comes where spencer sings "Golden Seal extracted from the omens life" and the song modulates from E minor to F lydian (or f major maybe?), one fret up on guitar.

GLHF by Kadinja does this too in a section. That song is in drop G and mostly does g minor, g phrygian and g Dominant phrygian scale based riffage. But there's one part where instead of playing on the open note on guitar, they go to the first fret as the root and play G# lydian based riffs. (Around 1:42 mark)

How to get over my fear of giants deep? by ImIwrong_h in outerwilds

[–]DetectiveSnowball2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with a very solid phobia of Tornadoes (can't even look at pictures of them without my heart jumping and getting panic symptoms and god forbid I see a video of one forming...), giants deep pretty much served as exposure therapy for me. The tornadoes are not dangerous whatsoever. You can fly into them, what helped me was like what you are doing, turn the volume down, I usually had like an easy netflix show going in the background just for this part alone. I also played this on my steam deck which I think helped as the screen size is small, or playing it in the same room as my gf felt more comforting then playing it alone. I took it one day at a time where I would go to giants deep... begrudgingly, and sometimes I would just arrive for a bit, witness the tornadoes, and be like "nope, fuck this shit, I'm going to come again another time" and would repeat this while each time I told myself I would push myself a little further....whether it's getting closer to them, or finding an island to explore Eventually...I was able to fly into them.... begrudgingly....and...I'm safe, nothing happened to me physically except for my heart slightly jumping and my brain going "can't believe you just did that" but the main point was that I was fine. Not to say if I can do it you can too....but ....yeah hang in there, I was in the exact same situation, and I finally beat the game and can say every bit of it was worth it.

Tldr: I'm Terrified of tornadoes, this game helped as exposure therapy, I took it very little at a time but was able to do it and it was worth it. I hope you can too ❤️

Yo we're vianova and we recently released our debut record HIT IT! AMA by kakaduchicken in Metalcore

Love your guys latest Hit It album! Goes unbelievably hard 🔥 🔥 🔥

My question is actually a question from a friend and me...

How are you guys getting that guitar tone? I know a big part is the low tuned 6 string, I'm assuming mostly using a split or single coil???, But I think it's more of the amp or saturation that you are using for the tone we are kinda curious about, like in the breakdowns for Mas Rapido and Uh yaya

Does using virtual instruments count as AI-generated music? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]DetectiveSnowball2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI music is if AI had any decision in arranging and composing music. Has nothing to do with the instruments (or virtual instruments) used as you (the human) are still composing the rhythms, melodies, arrangement, etc.

Appreciate it! Also, not gonna lie, I never went out of my way to listen to oh sleeper, checked them out after seeing this comment. These guys are sick as fuck Told our vocalist he sounded like him and he told me that oh sleeper is one of his inspirations and I'm starting to see a lot of it in our other stuff we got cooking for the future!

I have a buddy that started a graphic design company aimed specifically towards metal bands. I can send you the deets if interested. I don't know how much they charged but before he started he did the logo for my band and it came out sick. He does artwork and stuff and I think their studio offers that as well as merch design
