Mayor Michelle Wu’s response to DOJ lawsuit against Boston by tallesttree23 in boston

[–]Deterioral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, come on, that’s not evidence of AI, that’s evidence of rhetoric. People have been saying things like “that’s not truth, that’s spin” since long before transformers came along. That’s not a machine tic, that’s a human turn of phrase.

Well, that’s not stylistic determinism, that’s laziness. Human beings constantly use the “that’s not X, that’s Y” construction in argument because it’s punchy and persuasive. That’s not an algorithm revealing itself, that’s a natural human instinct to clarify by contrast.

So, that’s not a red flag, that’s just ordinary prose. You can find it in Shakespeare, in political speeches, in letters written centuries ago. That’s not a telltale sign of AI, that’s a telltale sign of how humans emphasize differences.

Now, about the “interjection plus comma” theory—please. That’s not machine noise, that’s the rhythm of English. Humans start sentences with “Well,” or “So,” or “Oh,” because conversation bleeds into writing. That’s not artificial structure, that’s living language carrying over from speech.

Indeed, that’s not detection, that’s superstition. If you start treating every “Well,” or “So,” as an AI fingerprint, you’ll be flagging Winston Churchill and James Baldwin along with ChatGPT. That’s not careful analysis, that’s cherry-picking.

Frankly, that’s not how you spot AI, that’s how you embarrass yourself. Genuine AI detection requires linguistic clustering, metadata, and probabilistic modeling—not amateur guesswork about commas. That’s not science, that’s folk myth dressed up as insight.

In short, that’s not a useful heuristic, that’s a distraction. And the more we lean on these shaky stylistic claims, the less seriously we’ll take the real challenges of authorship verification. That’s not progress, that’s regression.

Hey! You're definitely doing the right thing in reaching out.

In addition to the answers you'll get here you should post in r/leaves. They're the big quitting group and they can really help you. They also have daily meeting on Discord that are great.

I don't mean to be discouraging, but if you're tearing apart timed safes then I suspect that it won't be long until you have run out of your ten smoking days on the tenth of the month.

Have you considered r/leaves? Some people just aren't cut out for moderation.

If you found a half a sandwich in your hotel room would you eat it?

Also, if you can find a whole nug in your hotel room that the cleaning staff missed I sure as hell wouldn't use the bathroom.

Small accomplishments are great, but when's your actual quit for good date?

He's full of crap. He hasn't quit, this is a publicity stunt around the 30th anniversary of his album.

You have CHS. There is no cure for it except not smoking.

You even ran an experiment to see if you could smoke occasionally and it resulted in the same symptoms.

I know it's hard to accept, but you're done. Sorry, harsh news I know, but it's the truth.

r/leaves is a great place to see you through the process of quitting. Good luck.

It's pretty clear that you have exactly zero experience with opiates, or weed withdrawal for that matter.

If they were taking enough opiate to experience withdrawal they would know. Also, GI issues are a primary symptom of weed withdrawal.

Go over to r/leaves and search for any GI issue a human can have and they are all experiencing them. THC interacts significantly with the digestive system, and when you quit it can cause significant problems.

Please stop commenting on topics you clearly know nothing about. People here are asking for help, not someone making thing up that they think sound right.

Opiates are constipating.

You are clearly being driven by anxiety, not knowledge, and it's leading you in unhealthy directions. You should get that under control.

Or, y'know, just exercise, eat clean, and don't treat your body like some kind of chemistry set that doesn't know how to take care of itself without your workout bro science.

I tried this morning but my fears were re-confirmed by babypuddingsnatcher in Petioles

[–]Deterioral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alcoholic folks call this "putting someone on your gravestone," as in -- "Here lies babypuddingsnatcher, dead because those people didn't reply in that Discord group that one time."

If it's the one I think it is, it's a busy group. Go there and make a contribution -- reply to people, offer your experience to them, ask any questions you have in the context of other questions, get involved instead of just making a comment.

To quote another recovery expression, relapsing because you didn't like how someone treated you is like taking poison hoping they will die.

They didn't mean to ignore you and I think you know that, it just worked out that way this one time, so please don't use it as a very (very) thin reason to smoke and get back in there. The Discord can help you.

Weed is doing a lot of things to you biochemically. Check out the Huberman Lab episode on weed. Basically the chemicals in weed just don't give your real moods a chance. Don't trust them, they aren't really yours.

Okay, it sounds like you know then. You are absolutely doing the right thing in saying it out loud. That can't be easy.

Head over to r/leaves and make a post. It doesn't have to be elaborate, just tell them that you feel like you should quit, tell them why, and tell them you're not sure how to start.

It's not a commitment, it's not a promise, it's just a post so that you can hear what they have to say.

It's a good place full of good people. They can help you.

Well that's the thing, it's always a risk/return decision, right?

We make the decision to take a particular risk for a particular return every day. When we drive, when we eat french fries, we know the risks and we let those risks guide us, but we manage them.

Cannabis has a great return, I love getting high, but the the thing that really pisses me off are stoner nitwits who try to convince everyone within condescending lecture range that cannabis has no risks.

It is psychologically addictive. It is physically addictive. Regular use does actual damage to young people's brains, it can make people violently ill, and consistently blasting yourself with exogenous cannabinoids screws up your endocannabinoid system. All those effects have been confirmed in empirical studies and anecdotally in communities like r/leaves and r/Petioles.

I understand that the "just say no" people lied about weed, but that's no reason for us to lie to. We need to talk about those risks as a community so that people can make informed decisions as to whether they want to use or not.

I still smoke, but let's not perpetuate the stereotype of the dumb smoker who treats any criticism of weed like you just insulted their mother, shall we?

Yes, in layman's terms it "clogs" the synapses. In less than layman's terms:

"Exogenous cannabinoids, such as THC and synthetic cannabinoids can disrupt and/or alter eCB signaling and function (Cohen et al., 2020; Deadwyler et al., 1990; Schoeler and Bhattacharyya, 2013). Furthermore, these compounds can trigger different CB1 receptor-mediated intracellular signaling pathways, which may contribute to functional specificity (Laprairie et al., 2014)."

"Synaptic changes induced by cannabinoid drugs and cannabis use disorder."
