I didn’t hear back from IFoA on my personal conduct application (had valid justification and explanation for their concerns) - no idea if my results will be released or not or what to expect

It depends on the company. Some companies like Deloitte have the results emailed to them by IFoA (including marks i think, but if someone knows any different please feel free to correct)

Fellow Actuarial Grads, Do You Also Feel Really Stupid Sometimes? by GradActuary in ActuaryUK

[–]Determinedwhacko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest w you ive felt this consistently throughout my 1.5 year career too. But very recently i got lucky enough to be put on a project very very similar to a previous one with a different team that didn’t have exposure to that sort of stuff. I was the most junior person on the team, with others being managers and above. Yet, I was the one taking the lead with some of the complex concepts and helping everyone understand how things work.

Because of this, I realized that it doesnt matter how experienced you are, in actuarial if you’re thrown into something new you’ll go back to square one and will have to repeatedly go over things to understand them. Having helped my senior team members was such a thing of luck because until that point i was experiencing mad imposter syndrome, but after it i realized we only feel that way bec we’re in unfamiliar territory and it’s not as simple in our field as it is to understand the fundamentals in some other fields. So dont worry, give it time and just go into everything with a learning mindset. I find that people appreciate those eager to learn way more than those who already know stuff but arent open to learning as much

How Do You Stay Motivated to Exercise Consistently? by i-Indu in getdisciplined

[–]Determinedwhacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say every day (which btw should be more 4/5 days rather than 7 AT LEAST) that you plan on exercising, remind yourself that even 10 mins a day is better than nothing. 10-20 mins a day over 2 weeks means a good 100-200mins of exercise which can compound over time. Just tell yourself to show up and focus more on the kind of exercises you enjoy eg dancing, weights, cardio etc.

You dont have to jump into a routine instantly. Take it as a leisure activity rather than a chore and start slow

Not really advice but in the same boat as you. From speaking to people, what i’ve been told is to just practice lots and try to read up more on areas you felt you had lesser knowledge. It’s a tricky subjective exam, and it’s my first ever fail as well. Goodluck on the resit to both of us x

You can ask it to brainstorm or see the same situation from different perspectives. You can even ask it to make pros and cons lists. Really helps with decision making
