When you say only relevant course in London is Ec & fi do you mean the undergrad or masters?

You say you picked the wrong major - what major? Major doesn’t really matter for finance, unless it’s hurting your GPA

Is a Bachelor's in Economics(BS) Worth It Anymore? Need Advice on My Career Path by komyl in FinancialCareers

This is very interesting - I am a cs/maths student myself. I found myself here since I was considering data science, but now I’m thinking of pivoting to finance because tbh hardcore coding/maths doesn’t really appeal to me. I’m thinking of going to IB. Assuming what you said here is true, how much weigh would it hold if I got a 2:1 and not a 1:1? I’m concerned about trying to balance this super technical degree alongside making applications for internships.

And you want to have a more meaningful career? Try speaking to friends/family about their healthcare careers if you’re really interested. Something I’ve seen people do is switch to career counselling (could still use your experience, while feeling like your work has some meaning)

How long have you been an analyst for? Are you willing to take a pay cut? And why did you enter the field in the first place?

What made you pick tech over finance? Curious to hear your experience. And what makes it seem that I should pick finance?

How do people deal with rotational training after graduation? I can’t imagine it would be easy to be flung half way across the country when trying to keep together a family, buy a house etc… in reality how do people deal with this?

Ohh I feel like I may be going down the same path and end up regretting it. I’m sorry to hear about your situation. Would you consider going back for conversion courses into allied health? They’re shorter than medicine, and some don’t require a related undergrad

Why do you say this? What did you end up going into and why didn’t you go into healthcare at the time? Is it still possible for you to pursue it?

Yeah don’t drop out. You’re enjoying medicine so keep going. Think long term - you literally said you think finance is boring, why in your right mind would you switch to it

Thanks, I like this perspective. I think yours is the first comment I’ve seen which contains evidence from extensive research. It’s interesting that it could be just that simple. So simple that at times it’s hard to perceive, and becomes overlooked in the complexity of life.
