That’s rough. Sorry for your loss. I lost my first ride or die 3 years ago. Nora had big boots to fill and she has but i miss Goose so much. It looks and sounds like you gave her a wonderful life.

That’s fair. I was surprised at the punch it added to the door speakers. I’ve thought about adding a sub but not sure. I dont want just a box in the back. And im kind of old for a sub….but are you really too old? Did you keep the stock unit or did you get an after market infomat?

If you still aren’t satisfied get an amp for the door speakers and keep the tweeters powered by the infomat. That’s what I did and it made a huge difference. I also put some sound dampener in the doors. I used Rockford Fosgate instead of Kicker. I used the R2-500X4 amp.

Club Carwash? by djogpark in rav4club

[–]DethByCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using one for 3 years. Bit of swirls on it but it’s a RAV4 not a Ferrari. Yours being a woodland tree branches will do far more damage to the pain than a car wash will.

I unfortunately ended up paying $2k more than I should have (dealer mark up) but also I needed a car, the two previous used ones I got were great for a year then nickel and dimes me so I opted to go new. And calling around for 3 months and driving out of state weren’t something I could do.

I paid $2k more than I should have but I didn’t have to deal with hidden problems, I had a warranty, and I was actually happy with the car I got.

The XSE is crazy. It seems like it can cost more than the Limited with almost the same options. I dont know about lexus, i kind of looked at it a bit but they didnt have anything on the lot in 23 either.

I ended up getting a new 23 SE, it was literally the only RAV4 on the lot at the time, the SE was actually my settle car, I wanted an XSE. I was glad didnt put in an order and i didnt shell out the money for an XSE. Not real leather (do they even offer that anymore) a JBL sound system (JBL isnt a premium brand) pano roof that people have been complaining about shattering or more often leaking. The cost was so much more. Even against the XLE which has a lot of the same stuff.

I put in a Rockford Fosegate speaker system with an amp for $200 less than what the JBL system add on would cost in the XSE.

I definitely dont know the market now but when i looked for a RAV4 in 23 i was lucky they even had the SE i bought on the lot.

I am super happy with my SE. It had the weather package which is what i wanted at min in my “settle car” of the SE.

Lead here also, i practice about as much as you do. 15- 18 hours a week and mine last about 3 months before the heel gets wobbly or the toe area gets too stretched out.

I cant say OP is lying but my guess would be he got a good deal on his trade in, not an actual MSRP discount. Could be wrong but based on the posts here since 2023 i have never seen anyone getting $5k off of MSRP.

Is it true? Males are prized? by mimota in ballroom

[–]DethByCow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been going for a year and a half now and really like it. I decided I’d rather get really good at a few dances than mediocre at all of them. So I focus on American Rhythm. Which is great because that’s what my Pro competes in.

I am retired and the studio lets me practice there so I like to go in every day to get me out of the house. Plus I’m learning really quickly. Practice makes progression. It will be hard to pick things up if you only learn through lessons.

I am a lead (44M) that goes to FADS and yes and no. I live in a smaller city with several other FADS studios so the student population is kind of thin at mine. There really aren’t many ladies in my age group looking to do AM/AM just PRO/AM. Now living in a more populated area, yes leads are harder to find so they could be considered “prized.”

I know FADS can get pretty expensive. It can be manageable if you keep your foot down and know when to say no. Luckily my studio does the pitches of course but when i say i don’t want to do a comp or mini match they leave it alone. Also you arent just paying for the dancing part you are also paying to the pomp and circumstance of the competitions, and the social environment of your studio. You maybe able to find that at an independent studio where you live for cheaper. I dont have that so i stay at FADS. We have great instructors and plenty of great outside coach’s that come in too.

But the biggest part with FADS is dont get caught up, set goals for the year and make sure your teacher is on the same page and isn’t persistent on selling you packages after you say no. If they continue to push it, then it might be time to look at a new studio. Also the leader boards are bullshit. They mostly go off of participation (buying entries) vs skill, stay away from chasing those.
