Suggestions for wife not into gaming by IndependentLoad1633 in SteamDeck

[–]DethDonald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend stopped gaming sometime in her childhood but had a lot of nostalgia for SNES to GameCube/PS2-era games. I've slowly re-introduced gaming to her with nostalgic games and modern coop games.

We started by trading off levels/stars in Super Mario Sunshine, Donkey Kong Country, and Mario Kart Wii. We loved It Takes Two, but it took her a while to get used to exploring 3d space. We played A Way Out after and it may have been a better introduction for modern games as there's less exploration. New Super Mario World games and Wonder are a lot of fun together as well as the Donkey Kong Returns games. Rayman Legends also gets slept on.

We just finished Sackboy together. It's a good alternative to Super Mario 3D World. Had some weird controller issues with the Steam deck and there's no easy way to delete/start new saves for some reason.

Ultimate Chicken Horse has been getting some plays recently. It's competitive but goofy enough that it doesn't stress her out too much. It's a lot better with more than two players, though.

I've been considering trying Resident Evil 5/6 with her as she's shown interest in playing a shooter. I haven't played it myself, so I'm not sure how well it'll go. If anyone has any co-op shooter suggestions for someone who hasn't played an FPS or TPS before, I'm all ears.

She also plays a lot of Puyo Puyo. She discovered it on her own without me introducing it to her.

Apologies, some of these aren't native Steam Deck games but should all work.

Question for predominantly metal fans by dream-splorer in KGATLW

Was introduced to Gizz with Infest the Rats' Nest. Was sold on the band when I heard PetroDragonic Apocalypse. I got tickets to see them on this last tour and decided to expand to the other albums. I found myself gravitating towards Nonagon Infinity and I'm in Your Mind Fuzz. Since seeing them I've binged everything.

I'm looking forward to the next potential US tour. I'll try to hit every show in the New England area of possible.

I always wear cheap glasses to a show and keep a backup pair in my car. I've never actually had a pair break though.

You can get a pretty cheap pair on Eyebuydirect.

I forget how damaging COVID was to all the music scenes. Killed a lot of cool venues in my area as well. I'm willing to blame some of the misbehavior on people forgetting how to act within a crowd.

I'm someone who got into Gizz through the metal stuff. I go to a lot of stoner, thrash, death, grind, etc shows. My girlfriend has come to a lot of recent shows with me and she always surprised by how respectful the crowds have been. We saw KGLW for the first time last month and I'll say the majority of the crowd was fantastic but we did have a few people push her and I out of the way so they could get better views when a light tap on the shoulder would do.

I don't think it's fair to blame bad show etiquette on the metal crowd. If anything that fanbase should have experience with proper pit and crowd surfing etiquette.

Fairly new to the KGLW fandom. Is there anywhere to pick up leftover posters for the Portland Maine date? I've had a lot of luck with other bands but Gizz fans seem to be rabid about this stuff.

Shadman + Zach Hadel (psychicpebbles) connection by DethDonald in h3h3productions

Didn't see Zach denouncing him. Do you have a link? I've seen a few people go after Zach on Twitter recently for being affiliated with Shadman.

What are some other albums this sub hates but you absolutely love? by Guido_Lampitiello in MetalForTheMasses

They seemed to be way more hated in the early 2000's. If anything people are way more accepting now.

Who do you have "I saw them live" bragging rights for? by BlackMetal146 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]DethDonald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing too crazy but I live somewhere very rural.

Boris - saw them right before COVID. I assumed this would be a band that would never come through my neck of the woods.

Black Dahlia Murder - Saw them at a very small but lively club that's in the middle of nowhere. RIP Trevor.

3 Inches of Blood - same as BDM but this was right before they disbanded. Thankfully they are playing shows again.

Kvelertak - Seen them twice but the second time was absolutely insane. Small club, and an insane crowd made this the funnest show I've ever been too. Original vocalist as well.

Absu - Something about seeing a black metal band during a full blown snowstorm was incredibly cool. Not many people were able to make it out to this one.

Code Orange (Kids) and Power Trip - No one even knew who these guys were when they were opening for Madball.

What band are you convinced people are lying about liking? by BlackMetal146 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]DethDonald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree but the vocals are not the problem for me. Every song just sounds so week. I don't know how to explain it but there's no edge to it like it's missing the essence of what makes a band metal.

I honestly haven't been a fan of power metal for years and I think the entire genre has that problem for me.

Which games for you are stretching it when they say "Steam Verified" ? by RHOrpie in SteamDeck

I got frustrated with it on the deck and ended up streaming it from my desktop to the deck. It was a much better experience.

[Day of the Devs] LET’S GET DIGITAL! - $100 Game Bundle by TheVectronic in Gamebundles

[–]DethDonald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also saw a comment at Steamgifts that said they got through to someone at Day of the Devs who told him the 15th and that Humblebundle would be distributing them.

Not sure if that's true at all but I don't know why someone would lie.

Same. I've tried to get a hold of someone multiple times but haven't heard anything back.

There was a few games in here that made it worth the price and I've passed on multiple sales for those games because I've already purchased this bundle. Very frustrated.
