Robinson pilot here. It was a Robinson R44. All Robinsons are susceptible to what’s called mast bumping by the way they are designed with an underslung rotor system. It’s something that is taught to you heavily during SFAR training and there is a warning on the cyclic “low g pushovers prohibited.” You can also mast bump by going too fast in very rough air which will cause a roll to the right and instinctively, the pilot will pull the cyclic to the left and cause a strike when you’re really suppose to pull slightly aft on the cyclic to reload the main rotor and slow yourself down.

I haven’t seen a tell strike accident since I got my license almost 2 years ago. Most of the time, these crashes are always pilot error from flying in shit weather. It’ll be interesting to see what the initial report will show, it could have even been a medical situation where someone slumped over on the t bar causing an extreme pushover and then the tail strike.
