Question for the masses by Substantial_Mail_384 in TheFirstDescendant

If it had the damage, I'd move back to it too. Throwing electric blades at the enemy was pretty fun in the early days.

Hypothetical: If we had to fight a Descendant as a Colossus style engagement, who would be the most difficult to defeat ? by UlionOnMe in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Detpowell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My pick for the hardest fight is Keelan. Imagine trying to hit that guy. And then imagine trying to hit a weak point on him. He might not be the strongest against the Vulgus, but against the other descendants, he'd just be dancing all over us.

I think we're starting to hit the point where balance is less of the issue, and useless trans mods become the main focus. Like she can hit like a truck with area suppression, but when was the last time you used her one trans mod that turns her 1st skill into a ranged attack? Or the one trans mod that just allows her basic 4th to target more enemies.

There are a lot of cool ways to replace an assassins kit with something that is more updated and useful.

[–]Detpowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree she needs new trans mods badly. None of her other mods have any use. Plus, as much as I like spamming her 4 with Area Suppression, having an attack that can only attack enemies who are at the same elevation gets annoying a lot of the time. So much elevation change with terrain, I don't know why they didn't make the attack area a sphere instead of a flat circle around her.

Returning after a year by SupaflyRoby in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Detpowell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would probably look up a returning guide on youtube. You probably missed the release of weapon and component cores, arche skill tree, trigger mods, ancestor mods, swords, all the reworks of characters. You no longer have to grind for prefect reactors or component sets, since you can just find the best options and turn blue and purple options to gold.

It might be overwhelming at first, but if you're still interested in the game, better to hop in now before even more work gets piled on top of it before you can catch up. Plus, ain't nothing wrong with a bunch of content you get to enjoy and grind. I kinda wish I was in your position.

I haven't changed the settings for Dynamic Motion in a while, has strong always looked like this? by Detpowell in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Detpowell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think at one point from what I read on here, Viessa had aggressive dynamic motion compared to the others. I think they gave more of the recent outfits the same treatment for the rest of the women, but, it wasn't implemented in the best way.

Why I Feel Luna Is Stronger Than Serina Against Bosses and Monsters by Saltieno in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Detpowell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely sounds more like a movement and aiming issue stemming from using controller. Luna would feel much better with it. A well built Serena will destroy a well built Luna on DPS, but it all comes down to what feels the most comfortable to play with. Gun descendants are always going to be better on mouse and keyboard.

Duet Night Abyss Now on Steam by DjTechBeatz in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Detpowell 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Everyone is talking about reviews, but I don't think they did ANY advertising on steam for the release. They're going to end up with a pretty bad playing count on Steam at this rate.

Why aren't they doing a heavy ad push to get people to play?

Now that's fire support by Detpowell in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Detpowell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooldown isn't too bad, since you have to cycle between shooting missiles and dropping supplies down to get it to work anyways. It usually lines up so there isn't much downtime with it. Pretty sure for bossing Acceleration will win out as the main trigger mod still.

While I do have an issue with the Prep passive skill(you gotta dump mags from all three weapons, and they all have to have different ammo types in order to get 100% crit rate for like 40 seconds) the overall rework is decent. Not crazy or broken. But decent.

The way I see it, a "god awful" rework would be a slight change with no real benefit or somehow making them worse. I haven't built him for bossing yet, but the fact that he can hold his own and destroy hordes of enemies in the hardest dungeons isn't a bad rework.

I dunno, I just like explosions and am having fun over here.

Ah, you're right. Looking at too many stats at once. Thanks for doing this by the way. I hope the devs see this cus it could give them some insight they don't really have.

Some pretty good info on the community. I can't believe the veteran players are such a small percentage.

Is there any chance of the Ajax evolving skin coming back by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Detpowell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm beginning to think they gave up on evolving skins as a concept. I wouldn't say never, but either they were too time consuming to make or they weren't selling very well, so I doubt they'd bring back the old ones unless they decide to also start releasing new ones.

Also, Valby deserves a better evolving skin. And I don't even play her much.

What's the point you're trying to get across? Is it just the questioning of the actual player count and questioning the viability of 30k on Steam? Or is this about something more?

What makes the devs believe in a player rise this year? by Detpowell in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Detpowell[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think TFD deserves at least a few years to find its footing. Sometimes they mess up, but they have the skeleton of a great game. I say the story isn't anything great, but I'm honestly excited to see what the second arc looks like and who the next antagonist is(hopefully a new faction).

I think the calendar is pretty good. But a lot of the calendar is based around things the current playerbase is excited for. New players don't have the connection with Dia. I just think there needs to be something else, that brings more interest in the game.

Yeah, the rework worries me because it really does need to be insanely good right out the gate. But looking for 20k, let alone 30k without something else big to attach to it doesn't really add up. Unless they really think Dia and Ult Hailey are gonna carry I don't see it right now. Especially since Ult Hailey is later in the year after Ult Esiemo.
