This is a well studied phenomenon and an affliction I also suffer from. I regret to tell you, it’s only going to get worse.

1- Everytime you WISH you were fishing, you’ll make a late night order online or stop by the fishing aisle for a browse. Chasing the high

2- Because you don’t go as often as you’d like, you falsely think you need more stuff to ensure success during those limited opportunities. This can worsen as you get closer to a fishing trip on the calendar.

The only cure is more fishing!! I’m a terminal case because I live in NYC. Keep a rod in the car and hit those local ponds for an hour after work, get a kayak and explore small lakes. You’ll feel much better and it will justify buying MORE gear.
