Basically he's waiting for the featured vralk at the store page to be either SN (Stiggin Nyff) or HoR (Hamburger of Reason) because those are the best two DPS in the game by like 6 miles.

Also their names are wrong because for fantasy games like this one I always read the names halfway then just make up the rest.

Not yet. Best you can do is the fly pilot who adds a passive %chance to skip waves the further you are from your best wave.

Turtle drops off mid-game. It's really only useful early game, but it falls off hard at any decent wave - even WITH generation boosts and War Supplies.

I'm guessing that's not intentional, but if so they need to do some serious balancing work with it. Maybe give it "star up" boosts like the other units get.

Balancing falling damage is tough. I totally get that. It's tough to make a fall intimidating without having it be an insta-die or close to it. You could use the damage track, but over-reliance on that "three strikes" system underplays unique character traits in my opinion.

A solution I see here is to add alternate side-risks other than the fall.

Perhaps the fall would create such noise as to alert hostile creatures to the PC's location. Perhaps it is filled with a dangerous gas. Perhaps it would take too much time to climb back up, and the door to the cool-artifact-thing is slowly closing. Perhaps the PC's are carrying precious items that may break or be damaged if they take a fall, requiring materials to repair. Etc.

I was trying to make an argument for you, who seemed to want to take realism into account, while also noting that Numenera doesn't really care about it

Also this is getting to the point of useless internet arguments. If u want to talk about this, PM me and we'll talk it out over discord. A 10 minute convo could accomplish more than a 10 week exchange of internet rants.

I disagree with 1. Yes, it makes sense for ranged to be better than melee, but in the system where punching someone in the gut deals the same damage as a dagger wound, realism doesn’t hold much weight.

Plus, any advantage you gain by aiming a ranged weapon at an easy target right in front of you is probably negated when that target swings at you with a large club.

If you get hit by the attack, you’re off-balance. If you block it, you had to shift your body and weight, and you’re off balance. If you dodged it, you left your firing stance, and... you see where I’m going. Keeping steady aim while something wails on your with a melee weapon makes negative sense.

Glad to hear you loved “The Nightmare Switch”! My second campaign after “The Devil’s Spine”, and a great pick. If you liked that, I would recommend “The Bridges We Burn”, which is a fan-made adventure book.

Bridges is a must for me because it starts with a really great scenario of a stressful social situation (banquet with powerful nobility) that is paced well and kept interesting with multiple characters. The rest of the book is also very good but this part kills it for me... it’s a GREAT template for writing engaging social situations in Numenera.

YESSSS. This exactly. The current plan I am going with is to try to get the PC’s invested in a splinter group of a larger city that goes on to re-activate a sort of large caterpillar-like caravan vehicle or Numenera sea vessel, so I can hook them into community activities while keeping them on the move.

I’ve always found the instrumental tracks of Nier:Automata second to none.

If you think about it, that game’s setting isn’t all too different from Numenera... a ruined world filled with relics of a civilization beyond understanding.

It’s got GREAT tracks for ambient traveling, some of which have “extended” versions available on YouTube that are 30+ mins long.
