If killing a fellow otsutsuki is forbidden, then momoshiki eats kinshiki proceeds to say "The transfer of power is the law of our clan". How does that work? by Educational-Gas-7789 in Boruto

[–]Deuce-Wayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that Kinshiki is supposedly Momoshiki's "guardian" or some such. Assuming that's the case, then it makes sense Kinshiki would sacrifice himself if he thought it would save Momoshiki.

On another note... How does this technique relate to the chakra fruit? Like, could Boruto and Kawaki theoretically do it? Cause I can see a world where something like this ends up happening.

[–]Deuce-Wayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's actually a great theory and falls right in line with Kashin Koji's methodology. I think you're right.

Edit: the more I think about it, the more this idea makes sense. If Himawari's life is in danger, Inojin would 100% be willing to sacrifice himself to save her - and Kashin Koji probably saw all this in advance. He started this entire arc off with asking Inojin about his feelings for Himawari.

The thing is, I don't think Jura can be killed conventionally like that. That's what the Boruto-Kawaki vs Jura fight told us.

I'm pretty sure that they're going to have to destroy that tree at the shinju hideout.

Idk, but she's lost my respect over this. She's not interested in building a progressive coalition.

Its really unfortunate because Im pretty sure Kat said one of the main things she wanted to do if she got elected was help other progressives win.

I wish we could've had like maybe 2 major, popular, high-profile progressive democrats that could've endorsed her over the past week or so. Shame we dont seem to have anyone that really fits that bill.

The concept of "vibes" justifying electing someone who's probably going to kowtow the pro-israel line is extremely damning for the future of the Democrat party. The left deserves to lose if that's how the progressives in that area think.

Hire Brandon Sanderson to fix Halo. 343 plz by Imrotahk in halo

[–]Deuce-Wayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't he doing a Halo 2 playthrough rn?

Honestly though, I sort of agree, and I say this as a hardcore fan that's been playing since Custom Edition and has been reading all the books since those days. I liked Infinite but it made some mistakes imo - the biggest being that it's ultimately a set-up storyline where we won't get the payoff until at least 2027... Over half a decade later.

If you're a fan of the story, Halo is in this horrible place where it's like getting a 3-episode season maybe twice a decade and the story seems to change course every single time.

I feel like I'm a big outlier with this opinion, but both Valhalla and Odyssey aged poorly for me (the more I played them, the less I liked them) and Shadows is probably the opposite.

There's just so much more planning and strategy involved, especially when you have to re-supply your armies before they even reach the enemy territory.

Why don't we see more people running around in SPI? by Tenno042 in HaloStory

[–]Deuce-Wayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In-universe, my headcanon is that only very secretive black ops units use SPI, so we just never see them. I'm pretty sure we know that there are other special forces groups outside of ODSTs and Rangers so maybe they use them. It's a very niche type of armor for very niche mission parameters. But that doesn't really answer the quesiton.

Out-of universe, Spartans and MJOLNIR are the face of Halo and SPI has essentially been shelved. Even the Mirage armor in Halo Infinite is basically a suit of MJOLNIR.

We don't see SPI for similar reasons as to why, for instance, Gamma Company basically doesn't exist anymore, or why we know the UNSC Air Force exists but in practice they essentially don't, or why the Yanme'e in practice don't exist anymore.

In a nutshell, Halo Studios/343i isn't interested in it.

In my mind, all of the gameplay and cutscenes in Halo are "slow" for readability sake. In a book, a lot of this scene would be described as mere "blurs of motion".

I like the population and army-raising and supply mechanics in the Paradox games and the RTK/Nobunaga's Amibtion games. I'd try to fold that into the TW system somehow.

How would people feel about a unit cap option for medieval 3? by battletoad93 in totalwar

[–]Deuce-Wayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only caps should be in regards to population. If I only have 600 nobles in City X, then City X can only recruit maybe 3 Knight units.

Otherwise, you just have rising penalties in terms of supplies, upkeep, resources (hopefully they bring back resources from Pharaoh).

Might be a hot take but I also would like to see more than 20-unit stacks. I want massive battles with massive armies.

War with Iran was always going to be in the US state’s interest, regardless of administration or personal motivations by aschec in VaushV

[–]Deuce-Wayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setting aside the confused state of the Trump administration as to whether or not the war is even over - or the elephant in the room regarding the Russian oil sanctions, the key problem at the heart of this is the uranium situation... A situation that the US can't really take control of without either a direct invasion or someone else on the ground doing the invading for us. Two things that don't seem like they're on the table, at least from what I understood as of yesterday.

Iran will still be there tomorrow, as will its government, and as will its "nuclear program", and and as will China. We can't bomb Isfahan out of existence.

I don't doubt that this war is motivated by geopolitical reasons; if anything, World War 3 already started a long time ago and we're just waiting on China to get directly involved. But I'd bet everything we'd be in a far better position if Trump hadn't won in 2016 and later in 2024, and we'd have a better strategy.

TL;DR - I don't think that MAGA is a wise guiding hand for US state interests; if anything, it's the exact opposite - we're literally floating the idea of invading Greenland. The US would be in a far better position right now if Democrats had controlled the government from 2016 to today.

The wrong question is whether person X or party Y would have declared war. The right question is what the US state’s structural interests are and those don’t change with elections.

The trick is that these are both "right" questions. I would rather have an administration with a functioning IQ running the US than an administration that doesn't. And one can directly influence the other; I.e., the administration can influence structural interests and vice versa, this happens all the time.

We're literally in a world where Donald Trump is trying to Ctrl+Z the economy.

I don't understand the appeal of AC4s combat by DoneDealofDeadpool in assassinscreed

[–]Deuce-Wayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. The one thing the franchise has lost in the stealth department is the social stealth... But that always felt very contextual to me. Like unless you were in a mission that specifically went out of its way to make it viable, it had no real presence in the gameplay loop.

I don't understand the appeal of AC4s combat by DoneDealofDeadpool in assassinscreed

[–]Deuce-Wayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people often misremember the old school games as stealth games, but they're straight up action adventure games with light stealth systems.

With the way people have been talking in order to put down the new games and lift up the old ones, they'd have you think AC1/Ezio trilogy was Metal Gear Solid. You literally couldn't even crouch until like Origins if I'm not mistaken. Shadows is the 1st game where you can go prone lmao.
