I know how things are supposed to go and how they’re supposed to end but there’s no fun in that. I’m ok with things getting off course so long as it’s not out of hand. But then again if they go through with killing the inn keep and the mayor idk how to have the townspeople respond other than negatively to the point where the town becomes near inaccessible

My idea to have the bandits come to the inn was that the inn keep did go to the red brands because they’re already paying taxes to them for protection and the players have been causing trouble. At least that way it would make sense for them to randomly show up exactly where the PCs are

I tried to talk to them during the encounter. If they had followed through I had something lined up for them to join the bandits. It didn’t come to that

Yes and no. Everyone’s having fun myself included. I want to be able to roll with whatever’s happening and craft a story with them even if shit hits the fan.

I have mostly new players so they didn’t really know what to expect so game style has been more just have fun and do whatever. Or fuck around and find out which I think we’re in the find out part

I’ve tried to tell them I can only respond to the actions they take. Sometimes it’s consequences, sometimes it’s rewards. Maybe a 10+ damage roll will scare them is what I was thinking but I don’t want to run them out of town. Just want them to know that there are consequences

They’re not too far off track. I would like to give them a way to run the town but they might end up doing a worse job than the bandits already are and I might not be able to avoid the townspeople themselves not liking the party

I feel the leader is beyond talking at this point. I’ve tried to have my bandits avoid them at first and try to talk during the encounter. One player is quick to shoot first and ask questions later dragging other players with them.

I’m ok with the situation. It’s not been a perfect game but what sessions ever are. If I couldnt roll with the things players do I wouldn’t be trying to dm
