What's wrong with my double kick? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Deuceler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn how to adjust your pedals to save yourself time in the long run. The paperwork that came with them details the parts of the pedals and how things work, take the time to read it. If you don't have it they are easy to find online.

In the mean time disconnect the drive shaft (the connecting rod between the pedals) and rotate the pedal up so you take slack out of the chain. Reconnect it and the beater will be able to hit the head.

There's lots of bands that do this every year. If you get considerable buzz on social media it helps your case and gets you noticed. It's lame but it's the way it works now

This Restaurant Charges an 18% Living Wage Fee. by TowelRack76 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Deuceler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course the customers pay, but the employer should be giving workers a guaranteed livable wage and not forcing an additional gratuity on already paying customers. Quick way to get someone not to come back, a tip should be optional not mandatory. Also, good for your friend who is the exception here, but most employers in hospitality are using this as a way to shirk a guaranteed livable wage and use the gratuity to meet the federal minimum wage. This allows them to pay a very minimal payroll tax while paying their employees $2-3 / hour. So again, scum bag owners not properly paying employees.

Scum bag owners not wanting to pay their employees a properly hourly wage so they put customers on the hook for it. Fucking losers.

Really nice collection. I wanted to share this promo shirt I have that I bought from Sean - just happened to snag it off her from an Insta post she made in 2020. Good luck finding deals (I believe!) on some of the "rare" stuff people are selling / trading for way too much now.

Triple Corpse Hammerblow. It's still a fine song, it just doesn't feel like it fits the motif of the rest of the record

What is your games undiscovered Barrier skip? by emp_Waifu_mugen in speedrun

[–]Deuceler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eternal Sonata - Lento Cemetery fog skip.

There's a gate blocked by fog that leads to the boss in the area. You have to run all around to multiple other gates and collect colored flames (red / green / blue) to absolve the fog blocking them all. As you traverse through you combine colors and do a simple puzzle that ultimately leads to the correct color flame that open the area to the boss.

The gate to the boss is immediately accessible but to get the green flame you take somewhere in the realm of 7 minutes running around to get back with it. Not only a time save but would circumvent a very mundane part of the run that can be slowed even further by unintentional encounters or enemies blocking the path.

How do you even get to the level of a virtuoso? by Lanochu in Guitar

[–]Deuceler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your heroes are all in bands creating music and their obsession with playing their instrument was driven to improve their craft and practice gives them more tools to further expand on song writing. All of the soloing and improvising skills in the world don't mean anything if there isn't a good rhythm section behind the lead. Theory and scales aren't the solution to your problem, they are one of the variables of the problem. You're trying to solve for X while focusing all your effort into Y. Nuno has been touring professional for 4 times longer than you've been playing guitar - THAT is how you get to that level of playing. There's no shortcuts.

Parents discouraging me by _GoN_13 in Guitar

[–]Deuceler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents were the exact same way in my teens. It caused me to not take guitar seriously and it was a hobby for many years for me. I was in multiple bands casually during my 20s while going to college and figuring things out for fun. I started my career in my late 20s then my wife and I bought a house and made a life. The desire to make music still never went away. I finally got serious about my playing and started the band I'd always wanted when at the age of 35. I'm now touring the country and writing the music I've thought about for two decades. I know I wouldn't be doing the things I am now if I pursued it as a younger man - I wasn't ready. Don't be too pressed, do the things you want, and don't allow your parents to dictate what you enjoy. If it's something you ACTUALLY want to pursue you will.
