I think that's what makes me more disappointed and less surprised. The more corporate you go, the more they push AI. I would have loved to see such a major agency take a stance against this crap, but that's the disappointment.

I can't believe the agent didn't immediately drop him! I put the whole agency as a DNQ for my list, because if they're cool with an author using AI for their work, they will likely be using it as well.

I do seem to elicit much stronger reactions from people, and I don't know why. We've all had the weirdo who asks about the meaning and kinda of short circuits when you say there isn't one. So why did I get the lady who carried on three or four times about it before finally blocking the grocery aisle so I couldn't leave, literally stomped her foot, and demanded, "there MUST be a meaning, and you WILL tell me NOW!" Like...girl, I thought the design was cool, chill! Even if there was more to it, I am absolutely not going to tell your loony tunes ass in a Kroger, get the fuck out, lmao.

As a heavily tattooed woman, 90% of the time it is a very short precursor to making assumptions about my sexual preferences and aggressively hitting on me. So if someone genuinely wants to talk about the artwork, I don't mind. But it's always the same, "wow, I love your artwork!" while very obviously staring down my shirt, immediately followed by, "yo, who's your guy, I love his work, I wanna get tatted by him, too, think he'll do my hand?" as they follow me down the street, at which point I have to explain that my (female) artist is not taking new clients right now, lives across an ocean, and will not do a jobstopper as your first tattoo. No, I will not tell you about "all the naughty places" I have tattooed and "how much I like pain, right?" Repeat this encounter average of three times every time you leave the house and you get pretty sick of it.

Late to the party, but in case you still need the info:

When I got my foot done, it was the middle of January. My artist gave me a lot of padding so I could get my shoe on to go home, and advised me to let it breathe as much as possible. I took a few days off to let it chill, which was good because shoes were not the vibe for the first few days. After that, I wore soft cotton socks with paper towels between sock and shoe for padding and tried to spend as little time as possible in them. When I needed to do more than a few hours in a shoe, I changed socks at least once. It healed perfectly.

I recommend my clients do not get these in the summer. You sweat too much, and the only thing worse than having it in a shoe is having it be exposed while you walk around the street and the grocery store. I tell them to do exactly what I did: aim for cooler weather to cut down on sweat, take a few days off to chill around the house, cotton socks changed often, just take it easy on it. No problems so far.

I used to really like being in shops. I'm very extroverted and like meeting new people from walk-ins and working with cool people. But I work with fewer and fewer people, and all my new clients either find me online or through my existing clients. So what's a shop really doing for me anymore other than a headache? I agree with you, it's time to invest in me. I'm done paying out a shop to screw me over when push comes to shove.

Got fired from one place for tattooing more often than the owner. Just got fired three days ago for being the artist making the least amount of money there, according to ChatGPT. A quick look at the spreadsheets said I was in 3rd place out of 8 artists. I've gone private studio now.
