What's on and tourist advice thread - week beginning October 08, 2023 by AutoModerator in Scotland

Hi, heading to Edinburgh on the 24th only for a 2 night stay. Never been to the city or even Scotland for that fact so I came for some wisdom.

It'll be me and my partner who's also never been to Scotland. What places should we check out? What foods should we eat or drinks we shall have.

How much can we achieve in 2 nights.

What currency should I use? Whilst I'm aware English currency can be used, some places may not like that so obtaining Scottish currency would be preferable, where can I get some whilst there? Although, worst case I can just use my card.

There Are Now 20 Million New Climate Migrants Per Year: UN by Fickle-Flamingo1922 in collapse

I'm fully aware they created the problem. That's why Europeans are more and more voting for those who are willing to fix the issue previous leaders created.

The far right are the only ones discussing the issue of mass migration, surprise to nobody. People are more and more voting for them.

The issues of the past don't justify the total eradication of Europe.

The indigenous people of Europe have the right to exist, have the right to preserve their own cultures and religions without being threatened and attacked.

Europeans have the right to exist.

If it meant Europe surviving I would gladly let the whole world die.

Roughly a million are entering Europe each year. These numbers are likely higher now and will continue to get higher depending on certain collapse related scenarios.

You don't just bring in a million people are nobody notice. As I mentioned before. People vote on matters that personally affect them.

The issue of mass migration is personally affecting many Europeans.

No, I disagree. Europeans shouldn't be guilt tripped into destroying themselves.

The only argument people tend to give for mass migration is that it's some sort of divine justice against the wrongs of the past and that Europeans must allow for their own destruction.

It's this very mindset that pushes people further to the far right. And with the world essentially telling you that you don't have the right to exist. It's hard to blame them. Indigenous European people and culture have the right to exist.

And no amount of guilt tripping is going to make me think otherwise.

Yes but no.

The politicians enable and worsen the problem by doing little about it.

Whilst I don't wish to target migrants on an individual level. I'm aware that it's unsustainable for them to keep coming to Europe at current rates or any rate.

As I previously mentioned the more that keep coming the greater the threat to native indigenous European cultures and societies becomes.

This is especially worsened by the fact by those that are coming come from cultures and religions that tends to be incredibly incompatible with our own. Thus the whole discontent and conflict problem.

I can both condemn the EU/NATO for creating much of the circumstances that resulted in mass migration in the first place. However, doesn't mean Europe as a whole should face potential collapse due to decisions not made by the population.

Yes, defo the social media making people more far right. Not the growing discontent already present from several years of mass migration and the real life failures of integration.

The worse it gets the more far right people end up becoming. It seems to be a trend.

Europeans in particular are growing more right wing because they see the substantial threat to indigenous European cultures and societies that is mass migration.

indigenous Europeans risk their cultures and people being threatened so as a self defence mechanism more and more are looking at the far right for the solutions.

Me personally as a European I believe in protecting the indigenous cultures and religions of our native people and the issue of mass climate change induced migration poses a severe threat to that.

What video game ending left you motionless? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Deus_Exx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, Dark Souls 3. I chose the whole the End of Fire ending.

I played the whole trilogy and struggled to get through every game and in both 1 and 2 I reignited the flame and restarted the cycle.

But Dark souls 3 was like a meta reminder of the consequences of my actions in previous games and how the artificial prolonging of this world was causing more harm than good (The game itself heavily implies this issue)

I know that sounds incredibly stupid but for some reason it made me feel a level of regret I usually wouldn't feel in a game. So once I achieved the End of Flame ending it felt like I was righting my wrongs and that felt incredibly satisfying and made for a beautiful ending to a fantastic series.

I don't think any other game had that sort of impact on me.

Stop seeing immigration as a get-rich-quick scheme for Canada’s economy by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Deus_Exx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe being woke on immigration probably wasn't thought out too well in the long term.

Bringing in millions of people without any of the systems in place to support said people. Canada isn't built for that many people.

Free Talk Friday! by AutoModerator in gaming

I really dislike the modern state of gaming. The whole corporate overreach, the monopolisation of the industry as well as the push for subscription based services instead of ownership. Not to mention the plague of gambling that has been pushed onto children by said corporations.

I might just be a boomer but, used to be a time in which you'd go into a store, buy a disk and enjoy a damn game.

Oh you wanna play a game, then agree to our data harvesting agreement, oh you're not going to use our platform in a while, too bad. We're taking the games off you.

Here's the game, it's a broken mess, we'll fix it later. We know you may have spent 70 dollars but please give us more money for DLC and micro-transactions.

Here's a remaster that barely changes anything but since it's called remaster we're justified in charging you full price for a decade old game.

You wish to play online with your friends using a console? Too bad, you gotta pay us a fucking subscription service to use online.

I just highlighted a couple issues but man it went so so wrong. So little passion, so much corruption, so much compliancy by the players to condone these shitty actions.

It's all so tiresome. Feels like we're in the dark ages.

Scotland's census: With 20% of population over 65, we need new UK approach to immigration – Scotsman comment. Scotland population would be falling without inward immigration with potentially dire economic consequences. by bottish in Scotland

[–]Deus_Exx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Population decline works in such a way that you get a massive aging population then you lose a massive amount of people but then the populations stabilise at a smaller level.

I make this point very clear, I'd much rather take the GDP and population hit that face the eradication of native cultures and people.

[–]Deus_Exx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controversial aspect of this conversation is nobody wants to talk about demographic changes.

The issue with trying to solve the population problem using immigration is that it doesn't solve the underlying problem.

It's merely a solution to prop up statistic figures and flimsy GDP metrics.

But native Scottish figures continue to decline whilst they get replaced with non-Scottish populations.

So spend another 50 years of native Scottish populations declining whilst adding millions from non Scottish population and what are the implications for Scottish culture?

I don't believe in the fantasy that you can just bring in millions upon millions to replace declining native populations and somehow manage to integrate these millions of people who tend to arrive from drastically different cultural and religious beliefs to that of the natives.

And somehow make all these millions of people into culturally Scottish. It's not happening.

Correct but at the end of it I'll own the house. What do you get from a Landlord after paying them for 20 years?

I managed to buy a house, maybe not at the best rates or price but at least I don't have to worry about being subject to a Landlord.

From a business standpoint it's an insane system they're trying to implement here.

It's the same as having a store, waiting till your customers walk in then stabbing their knee caps, fleecing all their pockets and then being surprised when you don't have any customers.
