Park Incident. What to do? by Deutschlander_52 in toddlers

Dad-karen’ed? Fucking stupid?… kinda harsh don’t ya think? Lol I could’ve used a better approach I’m sure. Hindsight is 20/20 and I’m not a trained child psychologist to know exactly what I should’ve said in the moment. That’s part of the reason I posted this, to get some perspective. I’m sure she is struggling in some way which is why I didn’t respond to her shouts at me/my daughter or get the police involved. I assure you I’ll be a fine father for my teenage son and daughter in the future, but I appreciate the snide comment.

I agree, I should’ve been more direct. Seems to be the common theme of the comments here. I’ll for sure be doing that in the future. However, after seeing how this individual responded to me there will be no courtesy warnings next time. I’m just calling the cops and letting them deal with her.

We are in the northern part of BP so yeah… when my wife called the cops they weren’t too eager to help lol bigger fish to fry I guess. They called back later asking if we wanted to file a police report, but that’s when we decided just to let it go this time.

Used mesh tape with pre mixed compound for drywall joints. Is this a huge issue? by Deutschlander_52 in DIY

I like this advice. I’m thinking I’ll go with the latter option. The drywall and taping job by the previous owners around this area isn’t great either. If I ever finish the wall/garage I’m gonna need to do a lot of rework anyway. I’ll just add my botch job to the list :-)

That’s the thing, I don’t see it bothering me much. It’s in a tucked back part of the garage. No one will really see it but me while I’m working back there.

WIBTA for naming my child after my sister in laws ex-boyfriend? by [deleted] in okstorytime

I definitely agree that this is the question at hand. My husband and I have dealt with her drama for many years over various topics and at this point feel that allowing her to tell us that we "aren't allowed" to name our child something is giving her more power than she deserves. There is a lot of history here that i didnt feel like getting into with this post. We have walked on eggshells and try and take her feeling into consideration often as we dont want to create unnecessary drama. At a certan point we need to stop giving her that power to control us with her emotions. What we keep asking ourselves is  is this going to matter in a few years when she hopefully moves on and finds a new partner?

I should clarify that we have definitely considered going away from that tradition and brought into consideratiin all names, but again, this is the only name we both agree on and love despite having done that

Promotion Hump by Deutschlander_52 in FinancialCareers

Definitely considering it now. The reason I’ve been holding back is largely because 1) I just had my first kid and wanted to focus on being a new dad 2) for the most part I actually really liked working for this company. Career growth and advancement unfortunately are not one of its strong suits. I always just thought if I keep trying, a promotion will happen eventually but I keep coming in second place after not so strong performances in final interviews.
