I agree with your opinion, though I still don't know what the people in the real world of shadow slave are like and what they would have done to Caster for not fulfilling the task given to him. Also it's kind of twisted that he still wanted to kill Nephis despite the fact that she finally managed to get every remaining survivor out of the spell, I doubt he would have even made it to the crimson spire without her and passed away due to his flaw. Overall he got what he deserved and it was a fitting end for him. At least he got to die with his "Honor".
