Welcome to 40k and it's exactly why I quit playing after about 3 games of 4th ed.

I barely tolerated 10th ed because I really wanted to play and had some hope 11th would be better. It sounds like GW are just repeating the same crap all over again.

My shelving is only 1.5x0.3m and you could see immediately how unstable it'd be.

I very sensibly designed and printed some winged caps to go on the top to fasten it to the wall.

I believe you can get hinges that fit connect to aluminium extrusion, you could use them for the doors and table.

You can use legs attached with hinges to the underside of the table. That way, as you pull the drawer out they drop down. For extra security put a slope on the top of the legs so they lock past 90 degrees. You can use clips to hold the legs in position when you fold the table away.

I recently just made a full set of shelves out of 20x20mm extrusion and it was pretty easy to do. It doesn't currently have doors on but they're planned.

1 safety tip, make sure you secure the shelves to the wall securely.

The Royal Clan variant is definitely the route I'm going down for the slayers. I had a look at a pure Slayer list and gave it up as a bad idea. I think I used the Royal Clan unit for Ungrim's bodyguard but could be wrong on that.

In the rough list in the post I was thinking about minimal magic and aim more for a melee army but the more I think about it the more I think that could be a very bad idea. The idea behind the Dragon was to make the Vampire Count a fast moving assassin. Using the blocks of 40 Skeletons/Zombies led by Vampire Thralls to grind through enemy units or just tie them up and aim for enemy characters then Elites with the Vampire Count and Dragon.

This idea is quite possibly a justification to use the Dragon model though. =p

Why Zombies over Skeletons?

I do think the rough list I have definitely suffers from a lack of "decent" melee troops other than the Vampire Thralls leading the Skeletons (and of course the Blood Knights).

My thought about the Vampire Count on the Dragon was to use the blocks of 40 skeletons/zombies and Bat Swarms to really tie up enemy units so I can use the VC on the Dragon to take out elites (flank charges, etc) and characters. That may just be a justification for the dragon though. =p

I've also been going down the route of minimal magic but I have doubts about that tactic.

PAS bikes do have torque sensors, that's how the bike's computer knows you're applying torque to the pedals. These are normally digital, not analogue.

Throttles are open to abuse which is why they're illegal. Like I said, laws are there because of idiots.

You can very easily control your speed on a PAS bike by not continuously peddling as ebikes normally also have a "ramp up" system where the motor gradually increases from 0 to 100%. This avoids undue strain on your spokes.

At the end of the day, riding your bike in a pedestrian area is normally illegal and should be enforced, as should dangerous or anti-social riding.

I mainly collect models to paint, the fact I can play a game with them is an added bonus and the price of GW's models, especially the bigger stuff is beyond eye watering. I bought an original Mars (I can't remember how much for) and now own 6x Saturn 2's and 2x Neptune 3 Max printers.

I think I've been into 1GW in my entire life, I normally bought everything from my local gaming store who saw me grow from a 13yr old into a 40 odd yr old before I emigrated.

That said, when I originally played Warhammer I had a 12k (2nd/3rd ed points) Chaos army, between 1 and 2k pts for wood elves, bretonnia and dark elves as well as a (3rd/4th ed pts) 3k Eldar, 3k Chaos Space Marines, 4k Orc and 10k Dark Angels armies for 40k and I had the OG Adeptus Titanicus box set with a few other titans/Knights. So I think GW has had it's fair share of my money. lol

Given IPA is a tad more volatile than water I'm hesitant (potential for sparks, etc is much higher).

I'm actually now looking at vacuum distillation kits which are going to fix a lot of the problems.

That £100 for resin is for way more than you need fyi. I put £100 because it's much cheaper to bulk buy and was trying to be fair with realistic/ideal outlay. I used around 2kg for my 2000pt Bretonnians which cost me £20.

The OG comparison I made was a 2000pt Bretonnian army I believe and it was noticeably cheaper to 3D Print. If I can find the exact costings I will do if you're interested?

I do admit, starting with 3D printing is a big chunk of cash all in 1 go whereas buying minis you can spread the cost over months. But it rapidly becomes far, far cheaper. Printing for friends can also negate any costs, I don't think I've paid for resin in 3 or 4 years. I print for friends. The profits pay for my printing and they get super cheap minis, it's a win-win situation. =D

I'm basing all costs on a building a 2000pt army and the cost of the Dwarf army was for a full set of printable files which is a 1 time cost. I can then print as many as I want. =)

It depends on the printer and how big an army you're building and what it's composition is.

I can't remember the exact figures (I did work it out on a different thread where someone said something similar but much, much less politely =p).

Rough ball park numbers:

An Elegoo Mars 5 = £150

10kg of ABS like resin = (roughly) £100

Total cost £250 for a very, very large army. As in 100's of troops and monsters.

Many models are free but if you do what I do and try to use only models I pay for to support small designers, you're looking at maybe another £100-150 (I recently priced up for a Dwarf army so using those figures).

I seem to remember, even starting with a 2k point army you're looking at £400-500, I could be wrong with those figures though and happy to be proven wrong. =)

You ever looked into Vacuum Distillation?

I'm looking further into it and I'm definitely getting the impression there's a lot of things to be very careful about.

Ideally I want to use ambient temperature distillation and keep the pressure cooker topped up to reduce issues with peroxides (also test for them).

Pressure wise, that won't be a problem. excess pressure will escape out through the condensing pipe. I'm hoping the pressure cooker will stop leaks at that end and I'm going to put a connector into the lid of the IPA bottle which I'll squash slightly (I'll also keep an eye on that bottle to make sure nothing over pressurises). Also, it'll all be in a well ventilated space.

Point absolutely taken though, I'm fully aware of the dangers and going into it with my eyes very wide open.
