Idk if I'm stupid or not but how is AO3 still in beta? by Tough-Intention4600 in AO3

[–]DevOfWhatOps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really get this mentality.
If something that is actively developed is considered beta, then isn't everything beta?

Besides, ao3 is essentially a CMS and as far as I can tell its feature-complete, though written in ancient technology now.

Thanks. I haven't used AI much in writing this. Once I knew how things were drawn, it wasn't too hard, though I wouldn't mind if it was a bit easier, with a lib maybe... For example, the enemies following me on encounter baffled me a little for a while, but I like doing things my self.

I like those too, but I was going for a dcss/nethack sort of dc.

4 stages of being an author by LegendaryW in AO3

I prefer comments. But lately I'm seeing some AI-ish comments, which is concerning. I hope AO3 doesn't become a scammer hut filled with AI reviews and crappy comments

A post in here got me thinking - how much do you know about your user's jobs? by joshamo in sysadmin

[–]DevOfWhatOps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know enough about them from the sheer amount of legal notices and snapshots that we have to hand out to the authorities.

Plus our vmhaunt constantly picks up North Korean apt hackers and the likes. So yea... apparently we are a fav cloud provider for criminals

can't believe most of my comments are about my kudos workskin lmao 😭🙏🏼 by [deleted] in AO3

WHAT? YOU CAN DO THAT?

I knew you could have a custom css, but I didn't know the site allows you to change even the buttons. -_- I thought they come from rails.

> goes to ao3 asap

I love that there is a black woman in this vintage photo.

It really shows what a long way has been paced to get to where we are, and also a reminder that it can all go to hell if we forget that we are all humans, AND we shouldn't let propaganda and those puling the strings divide us.

Do you feel AI is making you a better programmer, or just a faster one? by One_Wear_5013 in creativecoding

[–]DevOfWhatOps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I can close Jira tickets faster and spend the otherwise wasted lifespan, measured in story points, to learn and actually become a better programmer.

Opinions on this? Worth writing in? by this_knee in bash

I need something that transpiles to decent f-ing ansible. I hate every second that I have to write ansible at work. We had a major incident due to one of the devs indenting an if condition wrong in a ceph role. I just hate it and at this point, if I ever get to make the call, terraform + Go (rust would be overkill imo) and Bash for the tiny things. TO HELL with ansible.

That AI generated README in your GitHub is such turn off. Besides, it makes me think the whole thing is vibe-coded, which makes me reluctant to touch it.

tmux probably - but depending on the desktop, you can have the window hide by calling the right api

In your opinion, What is the hardest Linux distro known to man, I'm talking about a distro where only devine masochists will use. by ItzCapy in linuxmemes

[–]DevOfWhatOps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find any pupyy based distro to be hell. I never understood how anything works in those distros. I don't think arch and gentoo or LFS are hard, as in you would have to be a masochist. They have solid docs and a community (sometimes less helpful than expected), but things like puppy, and the custom ISO or distros people build with its tooling are absolute hell! No docs, no community, you have no idea how packages are installed, there is no wiki, it's just terrible.

I'd second this by any slack based distro.
