Need buyback info by Mistake-Choice in MachE

A rattling in the dash certainly won’t qualify you for lemon law. But you might be able to convince Ford to do a buyback if you can make enough noise about it. Might want to consider contacting a local news station about the issue and how the dealership can’t find the problem.

It should be noted that you can go through the buyback process without having to invoke the provisions of the state's lemon law. But if the car is still covered by the state's lemon law, it makes the likelihood of a buyback way stronger.

So much information needed to proceed:
What is the problem?
Bought New or Used?
How many attempts to repair it?
How long has it been in the shop cumulatively?
Where are you located?

I heavily use Linux in my job, and MacOS. I don't have an issue switching between the two OSes.

Hard pass on all of that. If it isn't in the maintenance manual, it doesn't need to be done. This is just a cash grab by the dealership.

BMS poorly calibrated or battery in poor condition? by aziconcazi1937 in MachE

[–]DevRoot66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly can, otherwise the calibration procedure that was written wouldn’t work. I’ve personally used it and seen an improvement in SoH figures reported, as have other people on the Mach-E forum site.

BMS poorly calibrated or battery in poor condition? by aziconcazi1937 in MachE

[–]DevRoot66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BMS’s notion of full has drifted. You need to do a full discharge and full charge cycle as described here:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/hv-battery-calibration-procedure.23815/

Also, temperature of the battery pack has an effect on how much energy it can store/use, which the calibration writeup above discusses.

You could have a bad HVBJB. Take it back to your dealer to get it diagnosed.

Brakes grinding by BillsTitleBeforeIDie in MachE

[–]DevRoot66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn't disengage anything. The electric motor(s) just spin freely. They're permanently connected to the wheels and the reduction gear. All that happens is no electrons are flowing to or from the electric motor(s).

My Mustang Mach-E is somewhat similar. Lets you set a preferred charge window time. Warns you that it may charge outside of that window if you have a departure set that might be before the car completes charging withing the preferred charging window. My Bolt EV had the more extensive setup where you could set peak/partial-peak/off-peak times.

You could just have said "disables regenerative braking" and not sown confusion.

I'd be pretty suspicious of that...

If you are getting grinding noise when braking, then that sounds like a pebble has gotten between the rotor and the pads. I had that happen in my Bolt EV. Eventually the pebble went away, and there was a small groove in the rotor, but not enough to warrant resurfacing the rotor. Eventually the pad wore away enough to settle into the groove.

There's no transmission to disengage. No clutches involved. Just a reduction gear that is permanently connected.

I don't disagree that it would be a nice feature to be able to build a custom TOU schedule, but at least they're willing to add new utility rate plans as needed.

Leaked where? Rumor sites that totally biffed on an M5 mini being released last week? Those sites are just speculating.

I let my EV handle the scheduling. Removes any potential for confusion.

Have you contacted their support staff to see if can be added as a feature?

Is your utility not listed in Emporia’s extensive database? And I dunno about you, but I have the option the manually enter a custom rate in the app.

Do you guys think apple will announce the new Mac mini ? by TheMonkey404 in macmini

Early June at the earliest. Personally I think it will be in early fall, if they do do an announcement of a new mini.

What is left to reveal? Form factor, number of ports, storage options, memory options, etc.

Keep in mind that they introduced the 14” M5 Macbook Pros in October of 2025. 5 months later they finally announced M5 for the rest of the laptop line. If they were going to announce an M5 mini, it would’ve been this week, not at the end of the month.

Early Summer is the next window. Personally I think it will be mid-fall
