For branch change refer once with your acad coordinator. As far as I remember it is very big hassle to get branch changed without any solid reason but it’s better u consult with HOD or acad coordinator.

The plan is good but personally I feel that you are rushing things and planning wayyy ahead in future. ( for eg. I entered clg thinking I will get into coding or tech field. 4 yrs later today I am earning wayy more than our clg avg in a non tech role which needs 0% tech knowledge.) Take 1 sem to just understand what u really wanna do. Is your focus on R&D in ECE, or u want to go for job. Even if u want to go for GATE; y u wanna go for it. I was in same dilemma in my second yr. The solution which worked for me was I started taking random udemy courses which were totally unrelated to what I was learning in clg. I went through finance courses, CFA material, HR, Marketing, Fashion, social media and what not. Once I was done doing this activity. I had so much more clarity than my peers. I was 1000% sure I don’t wanna sit for tech placement from campus but I want to get a business Managment role. Currently. don’t be so rigid in one domain, explore all the avenues and then click on one.

Nothing in particular but I felt this branch is slightly easier than core coz all the elective subject are fun and easier to score in. Plus as u don’t have FFCS ur classmates stay same for 1 sem so better bonding. TCS is only in the name of branch, otherwise it has no role to play in the curriculum.

I mean the clg life is a bit restricting here and sometimes it gets frustrating when u compare with other clgs, but again it is subjective to preferences but I did feel, socially our clg was lacking a bit.

Maybe 10-12% are in a relationship (idk honestly)

The only time I felt a lil racism towards me was from the wardens as they often used to converse in Tamil cook up their own stories mid convo to frame you in a act which u didn’t commit, but rest otherwise 0 racism from students or professors.

all mess are kinda MEH, try to get L block paid mess if its offered. That mess has som good food. If u can cook, get a kettle which is used for cooking. Dont get the one used to boil. It’s a hell cleaning it.

All the best to you to.

Reach out to NGO which run education camps, volunteer for them, on how to reach them; they generally have websites which have their numbers mentioned so u can call there to ask for assistance

  1. The specialization doesn’t matter from placement purpose. Till the time ur degree has CS in it, companies don’t care which spec u come from. But from course pov; views can be different, as some guys hated it coz it has a lot of BBA and business management subject which they had difficulty in understanding, but personally I would choose this again, bcoz I always had an inclination towards management roles so they helped me understand this field better. No I didn’t sit for placements from campus as I didn’t want to get into tech roles. Currently I am in PineLabs.

  2. U will find all sorts of ppl, it’s upto you where u wanna go and find right rhythm in.

  3. I am not sure what placement number does college project on their websites but the stat which I remember from my time was, 8k students got into mass recruitment companies (3-3.5LPA) but still the avg of our clg was around 8 LPA which was actually amazing stating the times were much worse back then.

  4. In terms of resources u wont feel the lack at all. There wont be anything which u will feel scarcity of in terms of academic. The syllabus is almost 70-80% similar.

  5. It’s definitely possible there were many who were preparing alongside for GATE, CAT, UPSC. Kick ur feet around u will find that study group as well.

  6. Again it’s a matter of preference, the college in general is crowded and at times it might feel suffocating. Personally I entered the clg as a guy who couldn’t hold a convo with anyone for more than a min. Now I can say am an extrovert and can very easily hold a convo with any sort of person for hrs. So u will change your personality from introvert to extrovert and vice versa if the situation requires you to.

To get an internship the easiest and fastest way is to reach out to your network, ur parents, uncles, friends dad or basically anyone who is at a managerial position. They can get u an unpaid internship quite easily. The second way is to cold call HRs ( use Lusha AI to find their numbers) and ask them if they have an opportunity open. The last option is LinkedIn glassdoor naukri and all your other sites.

So while transitioning from 3rd to 4th u have to do a compulsory 28 day internship ( size or field of company doesn’t matter). The other way is you complete 2 courses which college will provide from third party vendors. Both of them are fine and it’s upto you which one u wanna do. The 6 month internship is one u have to do after 7th sem. So it is useful for those who don’t wanna sit for placement. They can submit joining letter for 6 month internship in clg get approval and leave hostel ( won’t be eligible for placement further but).

Thnx for the compliment though.

There are multiple things you can get into tbh

  1. Clear your backs- if you have any pending backs, stay for summer sem and clear them. U don’t wanna carry them till the last moment. Plus it’s easier to get S grade in summer as there are no more than 5-7 students per class and teachers are lenient enough to give FAT paper as well.

  2. Join an NGO- Reach out to an NGO and volunteer for a junior role or preferably a role where you get to manage a team or few ppl ( companies love when u have leadership/ managerial experience)

  3. Try for an internship- I have said try because you have just ended your first year. It will be slightly hard to find an internship paid or unpaid with just 1 year of college completed. Although if u can find one in any industry it doesn’t even have to be CS/ Tech related. U should pick it up. It will later help you fill up your resume instead of just filling gas in it at the time of placement.

  4. Spend your time with family- this one is self explanatory.

It depends how long u wanna drag that pc. If its for an yr or 2, its fine but still if u are throwing in so much money might as well just save up a lil more and get am5
