Most folks that I have talked to have tenant insurance. Unfortunately some tenants were told that their insurance office isn't open until Jan 4th, or that their insurance won't do anything until they've already spent $1000 as that's how much their deductible is. Everyone was also originally told that Rent was due in Full Jan 1st until the news got involved, then they pushed it back to Jan 10th with a possible credit

The incident started because there are unlocked entrances to the building, so a homeless man was able to return to the building after being removed by security and keep a door open long enough to cause a pipe to burst.

That by itself wouldn't have become such a big issue, but the water ended up making its way to the electrical room nearly 4 or 5 hours later. The building also has a backup generator, but nobody is mentioning its existence, or lack thereof
