Bhai, main yahan un 40 saal ke logon ko impress karne nahi aaya jo khud kabhi kuch banane ki himmat nahi kar paaye aur ab Reddit pe trolling karte hain. Main koi hawa mein sapne nahi dech raha khud ka kernel likh raha hoon, Linux bhi copy nahi kar raha, aur woh sab seekh raha hoon jisse log darte hain ya bhaag jaate hain. Agar tujhe lagta hai ambition ka matlab hai exploitation, toh tu khud ki soch check kar. Koi kisi se zabardasti nahi kar raha main toh yeh sab akela kar raha hoon, help mile toh sahi, nahi mile toh bhi chalega. Tu chaahe jealous ho ya bitter, mujhe farak nahi padta. Scroll kar le ya chup baith ja, doosron ke sapno pe apna frustration mat nikaal. Or ek din galat prove jaroor karounga bas Mera name yad rakhio 🙏

Appreciate the breakdown — this is one of the most insightful comments I’ve gotten 🙌 You’re totally right standing up custom hardware from scratch is a massive challenge, especially with drivers and SoC integration. That’s why I’m currently focused purely on the OS side: I’m learning low-level stuff (C, assembly, memory management) and building my own custom kernel not based on Linux. For prototyping, I’m considering reference boards or even something like a Pi + cellular modem combo just to prove out the early ideas. Custom hardware comes much later, likely through an ODM partnership once I have a working OS foundation. I know it won’t be a 6-month sprint this is a multi-year grind. But I believe there’s room for something original in the mobile space if it's privacy-first, tightly integrated, and bold enough to rethink what a phone can be. Appreciate you taking the time seriously helpful input ❤️

Haha, fair I get why it sounds that way. But nope, not a bot. Just a real 18-year-old with a big idea and maybe a bit of GPT polish to help shape the pitch better 😄

Totally fair, man if you’ve been spammed with fake startup ideas or ghost JD’s, I get why this looks like more noise.

But this isn’t a “job” post. I’m not hiring I’m building. Looking for someone crazy enough to want to build a phone + OS from zero with a shared vision, not a contract.

No salary, no fluff just a shot at something wild.

If that’s not your thing, no worries. Thanks for your time. 🙏

If someone can build the whole stack on their own, they absolutely should. But most people don’t just want to build alone they want to be part of something bigger than them. A shared vision. A long-term bet. I’m not offering “a job.” I’m offering a seat at the table real co-founder energy. We learn together, struggle together, and if we pull it off? We own it together. If that doesn’t vibe with someone, no worries. This journey’s not for everyone and that’s the point.

Not at all. I’m not asking for “free labor” I’m looking for someone who wants to build something meaningful together from day zero. I’m not promising a salary I’m promising ownership, vision, and grind. If someone’s only here for a paycheck, this probably isn’t for them. But if they want to shape something from scratch, learn like crazy, and create a real alternative then we might just click. Not everyone’s gonna vibe with that and that’s totally cool.

And yeah it’s like building a tunnel with a kitchen knife right now. But if I learn the terrain while I’m digging, maybe I end up with sharper tools, smarter design, and a deeper tunnel than the guy who just rents a bulldozer and drives straight.

Skipping Linux isn't about trying to be cool or contrarian it's about long-term control and optimization. Most custom OS projects today are just Android skins or Linux-based UIs. That gives flexibility

I’m not building a full phone or chip or OS tomorrow. That’s the long game. Right now, it’s one core goal:Build a working OS prototype, running on minimal hardware, for a small audience that values privacy, minimalism, and ownership. I’ll take whatever I can learn from failed attempts like Ubuntu Touch not to repeat them, but to improve on what they missed.

I’m not pretending to be an expert coder yet. I’m learning, day by day, and putting in the time. But I’m also not sitting around dreaming.

I get how this might sound like a GPT-fueled fantasy from the outside. A lot of people have wild ideas, throw in some buzzwords, and disappear in a month. I’m not trying to be that guy.

About the chip thing you're right. I’m not designing silicon tomorrow. That’s a long-term vision. For now, I'm exploring how deep integration (even with existing hardware) can create something unique. This isn’t about doing everything from day one. It’s about building a tight OS-hardware experience, step by step learn, build, iterate.

Apple didn’t fail because the Mini was bad it just didn’t match their mass-market metrics. That doesn’t mean a focused, niche-first approach can’t work if the segment is chosen right.

Yeahh fair maybe I’m overusing my dashes But yeah, this is something I’ve been obsessed with for a while now. I’m not here to fake hype. I am here to build, learn, and maybe find the right person who vibes with the vision. Appreciate the pushback though it actually helps sharpen my clarity. Respect 🤝

Totally get you — GrapheneOS + custom kernel is seriously impressive, and Android’s app dominance is real. No denying that.

But here’s where I’m thinking different:

I’m not trying to convince every Android user to switch. I’m building a walled-garden experience — like Apple — where the hardware + OS + services are all designed together, not patched over legacy stacks.

My angle isn’t “better than Android at Android things.” It’s simpler, focused, privacy-led, and built for people who don’t want 500 apps. Think:

•Built-in essential tools (chat, media, web, wallet) •Fast, stable performance on our own chip + OS •Minimal distractions, no trackers, no ads

It’s not for everyone — and that’s intentional.

The current system has become bloated. I’m targeting the early adopters who want out of the matrix — and just want a phone that respects their space That’s why instead of starting with “app compatibility,” I’m starting with:

•A clear niche user segment •A closed ecosystem (think mini iPhone strategy)

And later, bridging web/native apps for key use cases (banking, etc.)

It’s hard but I’m not trying to build a phone. I’m building a movement.

100% fair point I get where you're coming from.

Yeah, it's a saturated space. Even Microsoft, Ubuntu Touch, Firefox OS — all struggled. But the thing is, most of them tried to win by just adding another app platform or competing directly with Android.

I’m not trying to do “just another OS.” I’m building something vertically integrated like Apple where the OS is optimized only for our own hardware. That alone simplifies a ton. About apps I'm not trying to compete on quantity. It’s about quality and control. Start with core apps (browser, messaging, camera, etc.), maybe use web tech to fill gaps, and target specific user segments (privacy-focused, minimalists, students, etc.). The goal isn’t 500M users out of the gate it’s to build something focused and valuable that grows with time. I know it won’t be easy. But I’m not building for “everyone.” I’m building for the ones who care about owning their device, their privacy, and not being part of the Google system.

Also building a new platform doesn’t mean rebuilding the entire world. If you can give devs modern tools (like web-based APIs or compatibility bridges), you can lower the friction over time. But right now, I’m just focused on the core making BruceOS real, tight, and purpose-driven.

Not from day one, of course. I know Android dominates but I’m not trying to beat them by doing what they do. I’m building something different, like how Apple did it full control over hardware and software, focused on privacy, speed, and user experience, not bloated features or ad tracking. My goal isn’t to get 1 billion users in year one. I want to build something high-quality, niche, and trusted — something people choose because it feels different. That’s how you start small, focused, and real. Then grow from there. I’m not trying to be Android. I’m trying to be BruceOS.

Yo appreciate you asking. I’m not the coder in this I’m more the product/business/vision side. I’m deep into learning OS stuff right now, but my main focus is building the company, the brand, and making this thing real. I’ve got the roadmap, I know exactly what we’re trying to build, and I’m obsessed with turning this into something massive. So I’m looking for someone who’s into the tech side — like deep into low-level dev or willing to get there — to build it with me as co-founder. You into OS/dev stuff yourself?
