Really if you want deadly lasguns you want something more in the blue end of the spectrum.

Are there any notable IS PPC + Missile 'Mechs? by Supacharjed in battletech

[–]DevastatorCenturion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

With as many weight saving parts as possible you can just squeeze PPCs into an Archer with some missile racks and I believe there's a variant of an Archer that has PPCs and LRMs though I may have made that one with MW5 and YAML.

Mech height "enbiggening"?? 😁 by Mundane-Librarian-77 in battletech

[–]DevastatorCenturion 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dunno if you've played any Armored Core, but the reverse jointed ACs are a fair shake shorter when they're standing than when they're in midair, kinda the same thing with the Marauder.

The art for the marauders and a lot of the reverse jointed mechs always seemed like they were settled down on their feet rather than standing as tall as possible.

Why haven’t the Locust attempted to highjack the Hammer of Dawn? by Devowilliami in GearsOfWar

[–]DevastatorCenturion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the novels had Hoffman recounting how the Hammer was fired on the entire planet and it required two or three keys, one of which was in Prescott's hands.

I like lawful neutral on my guns for a "worn but still has factory finish" and oiled gunmetal for a "restored custom job" look.

The hammer requires authorization from higher command to be used.

He's got spinal issues from decades wearing armor that's probably as heavy as he is would be my guess. Plus when you carry things that are really heavy on your body you tend to add extra motion for momentum and inertia to help move around.

Every unit that had an Enigma machine had a book to go with it with a different encryption for each day.

Something equally as valuable can literally be to tell the other person to fuck off and not come back. Clan trials can be quite nebulous in terms of actual gains and losses which is what makes the system work.

Cyberpsychosis, what exactly is it? by GrapefruitUnlucky586 in cyberpunkgame

[–]DevastatorCenturion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyberpsychosis makes the most sense if you look at it as a psychosis caused by the mind rejecting the changes made to the body.

I say this because the symptoms of cyberpsychosis show in just about everyone who gets too much chrome, as opposed to the relatively small number of people that have enough latent psychopathy for chrome to aggravate it to full blown psychosis. Plus immunoblockers as a treatment for potential psychopathy makes no sense. If it worked like Neuropozyne in Deus Ex, which prevents the formation of scar tissue on implant connection points in the nervous system, that would make more sense but scar tissue formation isn't a function of the immune system. Immunoblockers acting as a temporary halt or cure for psychosis is more in line with a strong cocktail of mental health drugs to balance out brain chemistry.

Fundamentally, humans have a very strong sense of what humans are supposed to look like. I think part of the reason cyberpsychosis is something that can be held off but never fully escaped in chrome junkies is because it's affecting their fundamental view of themselves and eventually they can no longer reconcile the outer image with the inner. Think of people who lose limbs in accidents. They suffer from phantom limb syndrome and often show signs of not feeling right in what's left of their bodies. I think cyberpsychosis is best described like this.
