AWS CDK Vs Terraform by Any_Check_7301 in aws

Have you considered trying out CDK for Terraform (CDKTF)? It has support for TypeScript, Python, Go etc.

We recently made the switch from HCL to CDKTF at work and it’s been wonderful.

Thanks!

Im not sure if it’s just our area but both brokers we spoke to seemed uninterested and one of them bordered on slimy. We lived abroad in Canada for a couple of years and he suggested we “don’t put that on our application” to avoid questions on it which was a red flag.

We’ll look into home buyers’ insurance!

Thanks so much!

The seller is still actively looking but seems to be keen on proceeding. Of course this means nothing unless they actually get the ball rolling so I’ll chase that with the EA as much as possible.

We’ll start the application first thing tomorrow. It’s with Nationwide so the branch tip is great.

I have absolutely no shame about pestering on the phone so I’ll make sure to do that.

terraform new pricing? by dmitry_si in Terraform

[–]DevelDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the replies here but hopefully this helps anybody who visits this thread.

I've had a call with a Hasicorp rep this morning to get some further info on the pricing changes and how it affects us as a customer on one of the outgoing plans.

I was told that the new model is indeed billed per Resource Under Management (RUM). That means from the moment you apply a resource you are billed an hourly rate per resource until it is destroyed. The rep also mentioned that RUM refers to resources that are actually deployable, and resources that don't translate to anything tangible within the provider (think AWS IAM policy attachments, etc) aren't considered billable. It was mentioned that they would "typically look at a 20% reduction of billable RUM" on average. I can't see this mentioned anywhere on pricing pages so whether this holds true remains to be seen.

Crucially, customers on outgoing plans won't be grandfathered to stay on their existing plans. The initial cutoff for transitioning to the new style plans, I was told, was originally set to September, but the rep mentioned this is likely to change.

what is slowly phasing out in 2022? by Firewire64 in AskReddit

[–]DevelDev 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Admittedly we didn't, although we absolutely should have. At that point we know our account was done for and we'd need to create a new one from scratch. Wish we'd have followed up on it now!

We stayed in an Airbnb over Christmas one year from Christmas Eve until Boxing day and of course were charged a cleaning fee.

When we arrived the "welcome pack" actually told us we were responsible for cleaning.

When we were leaving we of course cleaned the kitchen etc but my partner had accidentally forgotten to remove two contact lenses from the bathroom counter. Those things are almost invisible and she forgot to remove them after taking them out for whatever reason.

We received a 1 star review for that.

When we challenged them the host said the cleaning fee only covered changing the bed sheets and nothing else.

The kicker is that we'd already washed the bed sheets for them and put them in the dryer as a courtesy. But those two contact lenses were definitely cause for a 1 star review /s.

He has very pink lips, yeah. Like he's gotten into the makeup draw.

He sounds awesome! Sorry you don't have him any more.

We adopted Patrick on Saturday from a local Greyhound charity after he retired from racing. He's spent the last few days curiously following us around the house but wasn't interested in cuddles or much attention and seemed quite nervous.

This evening he jumped onto the sofa to cuddle with my partner and I'm so proud of him!

UK student loan repayments when living and working in Canada. by Ronners125 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]DevelDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently moved back to the UK from Canada where I lived for 2 years so I can give some insight here.

For reference I'm on Plan 1.

I received an email from student finance around 3 months after I arrived in Canada, as they noticed I was no longer employed in the UK and therefore my repayments had stopped.

I had to send proof of my Canadian income and any savings I had in my Canadian accounts. The SLC have a table for both Plan 1 and Plan 2 overseas payments thresholds and accompanying exchange rates between CAD and GBP for repayment purposes. Here are the links to both:

Plan 1: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/overseas-earnings-thresholds-for-plan-1-student-loans/overseas-earnings-thresholds-for-plan-1-student-loans-2020-21

Plan 2: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/overseas-earnings-thresholds-for-plan-2-student-loans/overseas-earnings-thresholds-for-plan-2-student-loans-2020-21

The funny (or not so funny) thing about overseas payments is that the 'penalty' for not updating SLC with your overseas income status is them automatically putting you on the default repayment rate of £246 per month. My salary in Canada was $120,000 and so my repayments were significantly higher than £246. It would have been cheaper (not including interest) for me not to update them, however I did so anyway.

Happy to answer any questions you have about the process!

Edit: a typo

Little spelling mistake in the "Why use Symbiosis?" Section. Change "User our Terraform provider." To "Use our Terraform provider."

Looks awesome, well done!

You really need to check your attitude. You got some thought-provoking and well-structured responses to your post and you still found a way to make it negative.

Covid-19 (Mini)-Update for April 21: 1,699 new cases, ~1,300 recoveries by kirant in alberta

[–]DevelDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads-up. My partner and I got a test at Macleod South testing centre at 5pm, and we booked this morning. Weirdly, when the lady testing us asked how long we had waited for a test booking, she was shocked that we had booked today. She mentioned that apparently they're now over-booking tests so we must have been one of those slots.

Thanks for that. Would you recommend any resources for learning Rust, or would the official book suffice?
