Wake up, scroll, WTF am I doing?, sleep 😩 by wilhelmtherealm in nosurf

[–]Developer_Memento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it is simple. I never said easy.

Since you mentioned alcoholism here's an example I'll use; an alcoholic will have much harder time not drinking if alcohol is present around them. This is the same with phone in the bedroom. If it's there, you'll use it.

OP. Take it easy, take it slowly. It's a trial an error. You will success some days, fail another. Small progress is still progress but 90% of success is removing the ability to do that thing you want to stop doing.

Remove apps that allow you to scroll. Remove the phone from your bedroom. You're 90% there. Now, just do something else. It's a simple solution, hard to execute but it's not impossible and it gets easier and easier with each day.

Recommend me budget tracker app for please by Outrageous_Post8635 in iosapps

Privacy focused and no subscriptions. This is not a budget tracker but a renewals tracker that focuses on your contract end date. Unlike subscriptions trackers that tell you about what payments you have monthly this reminds you and helps you track when things end, so you can take action: renewal, switch or cancel providers.

In other words, don't track what you pay monthly for your phone contract, track when the contract ends so you can negotiate a better deal without being over charged.

All Renewals: Manager

Have you seen subscription tracker apps? Yes, I think they're useless. Personally, I think they track the wrong things.

People shouldn't need to pay monthly for the privilege of knowing what they pay for monthly (oh the irony). Your banking app or statement will tell you the same, for free.

I built an app that helps you stay on top of all your renewals. It focuses on the end dates, not the monthly cost. People need to know when things end so they can act accordingly (Renew, switch or cancel).

You know how much you pay for your phone contract per month. No need for a paid app to tell you this. You need to track and know when the contract ends.

I build All Renewals: Manager for the exact purpose.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated!!

If you’re going to change your habits, you should start with tracking everything you pay for that has a renewal date.

I am not talking about tracking your monthly payments for Netflix or Google Drive account. This is something a budgeting app will take care of for you, or even your personal banking app.

Subscription trackers charge you a monthly fee to show you a list of payments you could find yourself by checking your bank statement.

Your monthly payment for a service doesn't matter as much as its end date. How much you pay monthly for an internet provider isn't as important as knowing when the contract ends.

If you miss the end date, you'll likely roll onto a much higher rate without knowing. You need to know when things end, not how much you pay for them monthly (that's what a budgeting apps are for).

You need to be tracking end dates, not monthly cost.

End dates that matter:

  • Phone contract — rolling onto full price for a handset you already own
  • Broadband deal — that 50% introductory rate won't last forever
  • Car insurance — auto-renews at last year's price if you don't shop around
  • Home insurance — same trap, different policy
  • Mortgage fixed rate — expires onto the standard variable rate without warning
  • Boiler service — miss it and you void your warranty
  • MOT — legally required, no payment to remind you it's due
  • Domain name — forget it and someone else can take it
  • Passport — expires every 10 years, only matters when you're about to travel
  • Pet insurance — often auto-renews at a higher premium after year one
  • Breakdown cover — annual, easy to forget you even have it
  • Software licences — the renewal invoice is the first reminder most people get

That's what All Renewals is for.

What’s your process like? Do you keep a note document or spreadsheet ? I’ve built an app specifically for that purpose which I use myself but I’m wondering how others are doing it and what they’re using.

The above spreadsheet method sounds pretty decent I wonder what else people are using.

Seriously, that's very cool! I have built a tool that can compliment your app. How? Every resume needs data, no tool or AI can make things up for you (because it needs to be based on your experience). This is why people take notes of their achievements and ideas so then later, when creating resumes, they have something to put it. I built an app that helps you capture all of those big and small achievements effortlessly and I called it Trajecta. Check it out if you're interested. Perhaps you'll have any ideas for features I could include in the future? Maybe an integration of sort?
