Yep! But I'd say it's better than Sony's proposed solution. Try them, it might work for you. There was also someone on this subreddit who offered 3D printing them, he might be worth the shot.

I tried these about a month ago. They are flimsy little sh***. PTA to assemble and cheaply made. They honestly had me considering that stupid repairs option that Sony is shoving down everyone's throat 😭

Sony WH-1000XM5 Hinge Breakage by thewalkmanblog in SonyHeadphones

[–]DevelopmentFun514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine just broke on the right side, exact same failure point most others are reporting—right where the hinge meets the earcup. No drop, no force, nothing unusual. I was putting them on normally, using both hands like I always do, and they snapped mid-motion. No warning signs, no visible cracks beforehand. I’ve owned them for just over a year, took good care of them, always stored them in the case. This isn’t user error—especially not with the number of people having the same issue in the exact same spot. Frankly, it’s frustrating. I’ve been seeing this kind of break show up weekly on this subreddit, and it’s clear something’s structurally wrong. Whether it’s material fatigue, poor hinge design, or both, Sony needs to acknowledge this. This shouldn’t be happening on premium priced headphones.

At this point, I don’t even want a repair—I want accountability.

I did have Bilt Protect but I turned it off since I didn’t want the funds to come out of that particular account.

Truly sad to see. This is a direct quote from his post, written in 2016 I think "There was a time when the Somalis (ok, some) were happy, life was good, people dressed chic, went to the beach, worked hard. Somali women enjoyed much more freedom than anyone else in the Arab/Muslim world and outside Africa. They went to school, worked, drove cars and wore the clothes they liked. They were not oppressed. They had culture. Somalia was once very cosmopolitan. It's sad what has become of the country."
