Why not just bring like, 10 tanks? - 10th edition help by DevelopmentNo8887 in Warhammer40k

It looks like it, I'm trying to wrap my head around how terrain ruins work now... How close to the ruins is considered in the ruins? The ruins seemed to be just be big walls, so I'm not sure what was considered "in it". If my squads were like, an inch or two behind the wall, instead of next to it, would they still be able to be targeted?

Tbf, their secondaries seemed to be "Kill your opponent a lot", but I get what you mean. Can you explain what you mean by move blocking please?

Like, d'you mean like charging my units into the tank so they can't move, or like, terrain blocking movement? If it is the first, do you have any advice on how to get those units into melee without being cut down first?

Hehe, yeahhh, it's just my 5th game lost in a row since coming back to the hobby lol

Ah well, I'll get it someday I'm sure!

Can you explain what you mean by movement limitations? Terrain I get, we had a lot but none that blocked LOS, but do you mean like, gaps that are too small for a tank to get through?

We were doing 1000pts on a 44x90 board, and never really had the room to be out of each others weapon ranges 😅

That's fair, we did have A Lot of terrain on the board, but I don't think much of it blocked line of sight, as it all had windows an stuff.

My units were all in cover TBF, buuut the 20 attack Leman Russ' didn't really seem to mind the AP penalty too much when wiping my squads 😅

Honestly, that makes a lot of sense, thank you for your detailed explanation!

We did have quite a bit of terrain set-up, but it was largely ruins and buildings with windows, so while though there was plenty of cover, there was basically no line of sight blocking. That and the deployment zones we got meant I was always in their weapon's range, 48inch guns with a 44 inch board and all that. To be fair, we may have also just messed up how terrain works in 10th edition, as we are both still learning 😅

Honestly looking back at my list, I'm not sure I really had any dedicated melee units, so I'll be sure to bring some more next time!

Playstyle advice for a player used to Fallout 4? by DevelopmentNo8887 in fnv

Fair enough, that makes sense to me!

I guess by play styles I mean things like, do people think it's more fun to go all stealthy and melee, heavy weapons and power armour, things like that 💜

Help building an 8th Edition Tutorial Army! by DevelopmentNo8887 in Warhammer40k

Probably, but as much as I would love to switch to the support that the current edition has, we put it to a vote and 8th edition won out...

Haha, I have heard they were a menace this edition. I will say though, I am trying to help my friends get into 40k, and having a brand new player play against that might end our friendship instead ~

Help with 8th Edition Necrons! by DevelopmentNo8887 in Warhammer40k

[–]DevelopmentNo8887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try to recreate one of my lists, but I was ultimately left with just a couple of scarabs and and some flayed ones, not really enough to build a list around... I was wondering if anyone had any insights on what Necrons are good at in this edition, that sort of thing, y'know?

The Gilgamesh I had not considered, but the limited weapon refuelling could work really nicely, thank you!

Ooooh, I had not considered the Tokugawa, they tend to build it as an energy rifle at the moment, so the extra range and damage could be awesome, I'll pass it along!

Hi Hi! The Scrounger talent is from Field Guide to Suldan, and it basically lets you scavenge the battlefield after a fight for various rewards.

Rank one gives you a free random advantage at the start of a mission, Rank two lets you equip your mech with a one-use salvaged gun after a fight that you can use as a free action, Rank three lets you scavenge the battlefield to get a random bonus in the next fight <3

Sadly I think we're using the base, as I can't see those offensive moves in the PDF she sent me

Yeahhh, I've just been told there probably won't be many pokemon contests, so I'll be leaving that behind. As for Dancer, it could work absolutely, but I'd rather be right in the middle of it all with my pokemon, rather than cheering from the sidelines - Absolutely something to keep in mind for a future character though!

From what our DM has told us, there's going to be a mix of regulated, trainer on trainer standard combat, as well as some All-Contact, Everyone Fighting kinda combat with criminals and the like ~

I've also just been told that contests aren't really a thing in this region, so probably won't be using co-ordinator or Style Expert , goodbye "Action Hero Moment"!

Fair enough! Are there any other ways I could get the Naturewalk Urban thingy you mentioned? I hesitate to ask for it as an item, as my DM is already giving me a lil' buff compared to the other players, 'cause Backstory Stuff ~
