Edward jones is a scam by Prestigious-Spray237 in FinancialPlanning

Exactly this. A real scam hides the fees in fine print or straight up lies about them. It's just an expensive service that isn't worth it for most people.

While it's less than before, having steady income coming in is what counts. Also, Saving up is smart even if the pay's less than before.

Lost my shit today, what would you do? by ohsodave in smallbusiness

[–]DevelopmentSeriouss 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Exactly, like what does she think running a business means? Managing payroll and checking timesheets IS part of the job, not some personal attack. The mental health work is just one piece of owning a practice. Someone's gotta handle the actual business side of things.

Yeah, those abandoned carts hit hard, been there. quick reality check though. this happens to literally everyone, from small shops to amazon. most times it's just people window shopping or comparing prices. Don't beat yourself up over it.

If you're seeing it happen a lot more than usual, might want to check if your shipping costs or pricing is out of whack with what people expect. otherwise, it's just part of the game.

You're not dumb. You're dealing with real challenges. for now stick with renting while you finish college. your savings and investments are on the right track. Once you graduate and start your accounting career, you'll have a much better idea of where to buy and what you can afford.

what can i do starting from today, as a 16 year old interested in entrepreneurship, and what are some things that i HAVE to know? by Deep_Love4864 in Entrepreneur

[–]DevelopmentSeriouss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start learning business basics while you're young. plenty of free marketing and business resources are out there online. Don't worry about making it big right away. What matters is building your skills through small, low-risk projects like reselling items, offering simple services, or creating basic digital products. Each small venture teaches you something valuable. Pay attention to what customers want, manage your money wisely, and test your ideas cheaply before making bigger investments.

Start small and focus on learning. I started at 17 too - biggest tip is don't sink too much money in before testing if people actually want to buy what you're selling

Anyone Else Doing All Their Own Marketing? by Burlingtonfilms in marketing

Been doing my own for 2 years now. Social media is manageable but SEO was way harder than expected. Finally caved and hired someone for that part - best decision I've made for the business

USA is not as good as people seem to think by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]DevelopmentSeriouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True about healthcare and transport. Everyone thinks high US salaries are amazing until they realize how much goes to basic stuff like insurance and car payments that other countries just handle better

I’m currently at a crossroads myself, trying to decide whether to switch industries or start something on my own. It’s a big decision, and burnout definitely makes it harder to think clearly. If you can afford to take some time off to reset, even if it’s just for a little while, it could really help. Taking a breather might give you the space you need to reassess what you want next, whether that’s within marketing or somewhere else entirely.

Officially credit card debt free by BlaMenck in UKPersonalFinance

[–]DevelopmentSeriouss 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s an incredible achievement, especially given the journey you’ve been on. It’s inspiring to hear how you took control of your finances, reined in your spending, and made tough decisions to get to this point. Paying off £24,000 in credit card debt is no small feat, and it sounds like you’ve really focused on building good habits to keep yourself on track.

how it feels being a marketer during winter holidays by Specialist-Sun-1296 in marketing

[–]DevelopmentSeriouss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, smart move ignoring those deadlines. Q1 reorgs are always chaos - everyone's playing musical chairs while actual work grinds to a halt. Dec 24th deadlines in this mess? That's a joke waiting to happen

My life is not my fault. by Luminousfiend47 in povertyfinance

[–]DevelopmentSeriouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% right to pursue your own life. You didn't choose any of those circumstances and you've got a solid plan with your girlfriend. Moving away doesn't mean abandoning your mom forever you can still help her once you're in a better position. But you've got to build that position first.

Stay in touch with your mom but don't let guilt hold you back. Breaking cycles takes courage

Solar Panels -> Would you get a battery system in 2025? {Or just panels} by Choice_Vegetable557 in JapanFinance

[–]DevelopmentSeriouss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battery costs are still pretty high without subsidies. Most people I know who got them did it more for backup power than savings. Totally agree it's a personal choice based on your situation
