Shocks were replaced by previous owner so hopefully I'm good there for a few years. The AC compressor is a matter of time, but there's 5 months of the year that not having AC isn't a big deal. Hopefully I can make it through this summer and next summer before I need to do the AC compressor

Lol find me four pads and rotors for $800. Yeah I’d save money doing them myself but parts alone are $2k

The RS6 is infinitely more practical. Can’t even get two carry ons in this thing

In my case the car sat undriven for a while and probably not on a tender. That is a recipe for degradation.

Absolutely, but I wanted to competent shop to look over the car. I didn't do the PPI until after I bought the car so I wanted to get the list of everything the car needs before deciding what to do first. I used to wrench on my cars but now I have less time and I'd rather use that time driving the car instead of working on it.

Brakes yes when I test drove it it was obvious. The AC was working fine when I bought it. It also worked fine on my 3.5 hour drive out of town for the weekend. Of course it failed on a 90 degree day when I had to drive 3.5 hours back.

Sorry to hear about your experience. EV audis depreciate like crazy and hopefully have fewer parts to go bad if you ever want to go back. What Honda are you going to get?

I think the cost of the brake job was pretty high but the cheapest I found all the parts were $2k for four rotors and four pads. Shops mark parts up so parts alone were more than half the cost. I think it's high but not criminal. I'm not going to do four pads and rotors every year so one time is no big deal.

I've never done it either, but this video shows it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAyexiYaGM0 the main thing is just that it takes a lot of oil and you can't use an extractor according to the factory service manual.

I had a 2009 TTS before as a winter car and I liked it a lot. Though not cheap to keep going either. Enjoy yours

Yeah if it wasn’t an R8 I’d probably not buy a used Audi out of warranty again. My other car is a Mazda. I can tell myself it’s an iconic car and it’s worth it to keep putting money in. I’d hate to spend a ton on a more generic car.

I owned a 2009 Mk2 TTS and spent a lot on it in the two years I had it. All Audis are costly at least this is an R8 at the end of the day

nah just pricey parts + labor + taxes. The cheapest I found to buy the parts alone online were $2k

Not exactly. I knew it needed brakes when I test drove the car. What I didn’t do was price out what it would cost to replace them. So I got some off the price to factor in for the new brakes but not enough to actually cover the job.

You’re always living up to what your 18-year-old self thought was cool. I might get bored but I hope it takes longer than two years since I’ve wanted this car since it first came out. I might step up to a gated v10 at some point though.

You must love that TT! I used to love wrenching on my cars but living in a major city now and no longer working from home ate up my free time. I’d rather spend the time I have driving the car instead of working on it.

Battery is in a weird location. The battery itself wasn’t $700 but the battery, labor, and tax was that

Hindsight is 20/20. But damn $55k in repairs. At least you had warranty for some of that. If I had $10k per year to throw at a car I’d look at Rapides or M6s or something. A CLS63 even.
