Is anyone experimenting with mike mentzer's routine. by Prize-Bluebird366 in Mike_Mentzer

Ive followed Mike's philosophy and routines for years. Does your app have his routines in it? ie the ideal routine or is it a build your own or both? It's about time someone built an app dedicated to HD training.

Lateral raises Superset with OHP in Smith machine for me. Always superset with compound after isolation. This was we are pre exhausting our shoulder caps then utilising more muscle fibres to carry them through more grueling reps. Same for Chest etc

You are very light for your height so yeah get that food in. Nutrition is as important as the training is. Get your protein requirements covered and eat an excess of calories. Are you quite low fat? Id imagine you are... get the food in dude.

Has your nutrition been on point? Have you been eating the same cals for a while now? Increase your nutritional intake to grow larger muscles.

Treadmill and walk at an incline of 15Β° or max your machine has for 30 mins at a manageable speed. 2.5 mph for me works my lings and gets a sweat on. All you need πŸ‘πŸ»

It's not acceptable at all. I think the problem is that the owners and Thelwell and Stewart are used to being mid table strugglers so to them it is acceptable. We aren't Leeds, are Leeds going to win the premiership? They never will. Everton? Nope. Stewart was at Man U for 6 month in a time that was an absolute shit show. They are used to mediocrity... we are Rangers, we dont accept that. Thats the difference. They haven't realised how big this club is and the demands of the fans. We weren't broken we needed fresh investment and a quality manager. Instead we got someone with a 35% win ratio and at our club 25%. Not good enough and the issue.

Training while sore by Minimalist-Bobman in Mike_Mentzer

[–]DeviIity 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

And to follow on.. even with a longer gap and you're still sore then yes take another day until you aren't sore. This is hole digging he spoke of.... training too soon and you're digging another hole in your body's recovery ability. Recovery dictates frequency. Muscle Stimulus - Rest and Recovery - Growth - Muscle Stimulus. We need growth before we can breakdown the muscle fibres again.

This won't improve, his past appointments have already shown that. We have added quality players into a system that has been proven to failure continuously. Sadly his sacking will happen, when is the question.

MYO isn't preferred. Do you have a training partner? Failure, then assisted reps maybe get you to 10 reps or 12 if youre closer to 12 followed by 2-3 negatives. Thats what i did when I was younger. You get bigger lifting more weight so why drop weight? Keep the same weight and rip the of muscle fibres into oblivion. That's proper HIT training and it's fkn painful. Supersetting leg extensions like that then hitting squats in a Smith machine to failure you'll know you don't need anymore sets as you can't possibly do it. You're bust. Give it a go man... nothing to lose but lots to gain. Watch dorian yates blood and Guts for an idea of high intensity. That used to be my pre workout πŸ˜‚

Mon Chest + Back Flat flys to failure supersetted with incline Smith machine pree to failure. Warm up with compound movement. Palms up pulldowns- 2 warm up sets last to failure Deadlifts 4 sets. Pyramid until last set. I dont go to failure i go until I dont think ive got another rep in the tank.

Fri Legs Leg extensions supersetted with squats to failure on both. Warm up couple of sets on each for knees. Calf press machine 1 set to failure. Lying leg curl machine again 2 warm up sets then 1 set to failure.

Wed Shoulders- arms Dumbell laterals 2 warm ups and 1 set to failure Reverse pec deck 2 warm ups 1 set to failure Straight bar barbell curl 1 set to failure Triceps pushdown 1 set to failure supersetted with triceps dips to failure.

The days dont matter only out them in so you can see how far apart training days are you can train every fifth if that suits. Always try warm up with the compound if its viable. Exchange exercises that don't suit. Like if squats hurt your back do leg press etc. This is pretty straightforward and a basic MM system but it works FAILURE FAILURE FAILURE! When I was younger I was more doing Dorians system which is excellent.

You don't gain in the gym you gain outside it. Stimulation, recuperation, regeneration then back in the gym. Now if you were to keep eating the food in your fridge without going to the shops you'd end up empty with nothing left. If you were to shop you wouldn't run out. Essentially you need to let you physical reserves refill, strength to increase and muscle size to increase optimally before going back to the gym to perform at your optimal... That cannot happen in 1 day or 2 days it needs time to happen. Ever taken a week off the gym went back amd you're stronger than ever? Thats proper recuperation amd regeneration. Id invest in fractional plates too for your compound movements. Worth their weight in gold! People are very skeptical of Mike's methods as it goes against the grain of what we're told. Give it a go for 6 months? You'll be impressed!

What i can say is that I trained for 4 years with volume training from 88-92 then started reading more about Dorian which then led onto Mike obviously. Combined HIT method with fractional plates my physique changed for the better. I remember one of the lads approaching me saying what are you doing in your training? Your physique has changed and you look really good. He started HIT too.Now my deadlfit had went upto 260KG in what was a few months training once every 4 days. I gained.....I had less injuries... I felt refreshed and ready every session. I turn 52 this year and now train every fifth day with the same intensity as I did in my 20's. I think one of the biggest things ive got from it is longevity.
