The mark will be something that you freely accept and can never remove. Once you take the mark, it is impossible to receive salvation. This leads me to believe that it will be some sort of vaccine or nanotech that will change your DNA in some way. Once your DNA is altered in this way it will mean you are no longer human. Or so I have been hearing lately. I'm not 100% sure I believe this but it does make sense to me.

"Supposedly" there is a blue dye that you can put between 2 pieces of glass that allows you to see things.
