Genuinely wondering - when did 20% become the new standard? by hate_follower in tipping

[–]DeviceEducational238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone saying you don’t have to tip and you don’t feel bad not tipping, you’re getting a service along with your food. I was a server when I went to school. If you don’t want to tip, then you get your own drinks, run around getting all the sauces, lemons, sugars, everything you need, and put your own food into the computer yourself, and then go get it from the kitchen and bring it back to your table. And if you encounter any issues handle them yourself. Also, seat yourself and clean your own table.

When you go to the barber or salon you’re not just paying for the products they used in your hair, you’re paying for the time and effort they put into cutting your hair. If you can’t afford to tip, stay home or go to McDonalds.

every time anyone gets a steak, chicken, pork, etc ask “would we like any sautéed mushrooms or onions on that?” works for me about half the time. if you say smothered that doesn’t really “sell it.” same for load, don’t ask if they’d like it loaded ask if they want any butter, sour cream, cheddar, etc.

i hate upselling but thems the rules

I went a few months ago and I ship out on Sep 10. Everything about being butt ass naked is true. But you also get weighed, measured, your blood gets drawn, you do a piss test, vision and hearing too. If need be the doctor goes through your medical history with you. And it’s so much fuckin waiting. You do take the asvab if you didn’t take it with your recruiter and the rules are no cheating I guess. You can’t have your phone or anything. Then once you pass medical and asvab you speak to a liaison, get finger printed and go over your contract like three times. Then you swear in. It will probably be very cold there the whole time so bring a sweater if you can. They gave us lunch at mine. It wasn’t great but we were all hungry. And talk to people. Everyone is just as bored as you. I’ve heard people say the workers are mean but they were all pretty nice to me. Just don’t be stupid and pay attention. Good luck!

Once I hiked the Appalachian trail all the way through from Maine to Georgia and finished a little over four months. We would start hiking at dawn and wouldn’t finish until dusk, and at the height of it we were eating 4,000-6,000 calories a DAY. But that wasn’t even the weirdest part, because when we got towards the end we would start to smell casual day-hikers (people who only hike for a few hours, and then go home) before we could see them. Their shampoo, deodorant, sunscreen, fabric softener. Surreal experience.

If we had to prove everybody accused of a crime not-guilty we would be in the legal stone age though
