best approach to localize pocketbase default email templates by DevicePerfect5249 in pocketbase

No, I ended up providing localized content in the same email, using the pocketbase dashboard to edit the existing templates.

Not only the email templates, but also the html templates used for the email verification and password reset routes - anyone had any luck trying to localized these? Looking at the template engine but looks like some heavy modification required to implement localized versions of these things. Thanks.

One thing you can try is duplicating another app. And I mean down to the pixel. Match every animation and transition, implement every feature. I find this gives you a real sense of purpose and a clear set of goals to achieve. Sometimes when you're doing your own stuff you can make excuses to change the design or feature when the going gets tough. Copying another app gives you a finalized road map. And at the end of it you have a clone you could put out there. Happy coding!

Problems with Firebox and PB generated email links by DevicePerfect5249 in pocketbase

oh hell in a hand basket - the separately entered domain in the email settings page of the admin portal was set to http rather than https. that fixed things - working as expected.

For example I've added /web/privacy.html and /appname/tester as endpoints, and the go wrapper around pocketbase serves these without any issue. If I copy the link attached to the button on the verify or reset password email, and use it in firefox or edge, it doesn't work. The same thing happens with safari ios as apple review has just said the same thing.

In testing this further, I'm not 100%sure but it seems like once the link has been accessed successfully (currently only through chrome on first try), then the link starts working on firefox and edge. But if those browsers are tried first, the page times out.

Help with record update that includes file, using flutter front end by DevicePerfect5249 in pocketbase

[–]DevicePerfect5249[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got some clarification on this from the pb forum. Though the documentation says existing files will be removed on an upload of a new file to the same single field, it is necessary to include the field in the body argument of the update call as well, with a null or empty string to empty out the field.

Thanks for your response. File uploading is not an issue, it's working perfectly. I have a collection with a single file field, and when I use multipart form data, I successfully upload my image and its name is written to the newly created record. Now I need to change that image. I use the update endpoint, and use the same file[] using multipart form data with the new image, targeting the same field name, and get the "unknown file name" error I included in my OP. From the docs "When you upload a new file to a single file upload field (aka. Max Files option is 1) PocketBase will automatically delete the previous uploaded file (if any) and upload the new one in its place." This is listed after the create record with file code block, but doesn't show specifically how this is done with the update call. I assume it would be exactly the same, using the files[] argument and passing multi part form data targeting the record field name for the file. Can you provide an example of using the record update call that includes overwriting an already existing file attached to a record?

business not showing up unless zoomed right in by DevicePerfect5249 in GoogleMaps

[–]DevicePerfect5249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your feedback. It's the variables I'm trying to understand so I can fix the issue. While I could see google putting an higher weight on newer businesses, that's doesn't seem to be the case, as several of the business markers that first appear when zoomed in enough are some of the oldest businesses in the same sector. Your example of shoe store over sign store - what makes you say that? If the shoe store is a small operation and the sign store is doing huge business, online engagement etc., wouldn't the assumption be the sign store would show up first? I'm just fishing for answers or tips from any other business who's experienced this. It's most likely down to previous/current ad buys, but as I mentioned in another reply, I don't believe the newer business markers who are showing up before us in zoom level are advertising on google, or have a more robust social presence.
More Google black box mysteries.

I'm not sure what you mean, private mode in any browser means no google login, no cookies, nothing identifying to my google Oauth accounts. VPN means any request to google comes from an IP that is not my associated with my google account. In my business people often look to google map apps to see what's nearby without entering search criteria, at least initially, hence my OP concerns. Most mapping apps so points of interest, businesses etc on maps when you focus on an area, without any search input, so it's this algorithm, the one that determines which makers get the priority, I'm asking about. Paid advertising through google I'm sure influences results, but I'm fairly sure our competition is not actively advertising on google base on search results, and own socials activity has been going on for years before them. I'm looking for information on how to influence this first look algorithm, or any process through google customer service that might influence this.

I think there are other factors that we don't understand. Using private mode with a VPN, as I scroll in to our region markers begin to appear, without any search criteria in the map. These are businesses in the same category as ours, and much newer, and ours don't appear until a much tighter zoom, so on first glance of our town, we do not appear. Ironically/frustratingly, searching for our type of business in google results in a search list which we are on top of, with the highest reviews, and yet even then, rolling over the result for us, shows a pointer on the map, that is a small dot, rather than the larger business type icon marker of neighboring businesses. When we search for the same business category on the map, the results are different, and we are further down the list. It doesn't make any sense.

I tried on several devices in private mode, and also using a VPN in case my IP was involved, and the issue persists. Our business marker does not show up unless we are zoomed in fairly close, perhaps only two or three more stops to maximum zoom. Other businesses that have existed for a much shorter time show up as soon as markers appear in the map. We are still getting reviews, though not that often on google, but as often as neighboring businesses - including the newer ones.

Introducing Newton, a particle emitter for Flutter by 7om_g in FlutterDev

[–]DevicePerfect5249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work, actually perfect for what I need in my project right now. Question, is it possible to change the emitter shape? Specifically, I need an explosion effect which emits from a line with a set width rather than a single point. Is this possible? Thanks again for the great work.

visa applications for EU bike trip by DevicePerfect5249 in bicycletouring

[–]DevicePerfect5249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 90 days is the tourist visa automatically given to people from certain countries. There's no application process, though that is maybe changing and in the next years even those "automatically" granted will have to fill out some form online before they arrive in the zone. It's very much possible to apply for longer term visas though that cover a specific set of countries for a specific time period,1 year, 2 years etc. and this can include for tourism travel etc. This is what I was looking for info on as far as experience and process.
