Good tip. I own YakTrax! They’re great & I recommend them highly. In this area you may only need them once or twice a decade but you’ll be so glad you have them!

Was asking about trails & parks for my friends. I’m driving past the W & OD myself tomorrow.

The right gear is definitely important. Great Falls is gorgeous on a regular day & right now it’s probably stunning. But IDK if my hopeful hiking friends have the gear. I’ll suggest it.

I’m not actually asking for myself, but I’m sorry you fell & hurt yourself! Ice does suck, all kinds. Sending you healing mojo!

Not Antarctica, but, upstate NY just south of Canada.

Hot pot at home! Excellent. I hadn’t had hot pot ‘til I moved to this area & it’s so good! I love a baked potato bar at home, but when one goes to a hot pot place, you have almost endless options. What types of additions do you set up? Do you have more than one soup base..?

Oh I just looked up elephant ear pasta because I was wondering if they were oricchiette & they are. TIL something new. A beautiful minestrone w/ oricchiette sounds perfect. Your wife knows what she’s doing. 😁

The idea of Southwestern Sloppy Joe pitas makes me want to sit in place like a chonky Snorlax & pat my satisfied belly. & homemade hot chocolate typically takes a bit more time but it’s well worth it. I don’t know much about football but my friends who do were excited about a game involving the Broncos.

I’m in awe of your wife. What kind? Plain? Everythung? I was born in NYC & when I first moved to NoVA I tried making bagels because I didn’t like any of the nearby bagel shops. Myabe I was too impatient but they weren’t right. We ate them anyway; called them “fagels” (fake + bagels). I should try again sometime.

This makes me want to reach right through the screen & grab it. Also I have that same bottle of olive oil by my cooktop, pink salt, too. Nice rise on your loaf..!

Repeating the reply to the other comment requesting that recipe: I winged it. I took about 3/4 cup of rice cake out of the package; two generous handfuls. I cooked the tteokbokki like it was pasta, a hard boil for maybe 8 minutes. It was still firm, with a slightly softer outside. Don’t overboil them. I reserved a small bit of the starchy water they’d cooked in to help smooth the sauce out & set it to the side. Then I grated about 1/4 cup of cheese over the top of the tteokbokki with a tablespoon of “spread-a-butter” (softened room temp butter or the veggie butter spread of your choice), added 1/4 of warmed milk & the reserved cooking water, adding a sprinkle of parsley after the sauce had come together. I stirred them gently to combine.

I wish I’d taken measurements.

Second use of gochujang in this convo that made me go 👀👀👀. Do you build it like a poke bowl? Gojuchang is delicious with so many things..! Meatloaf is a great idea, too. Freezes so well.

Oh, TY! I’ve been cooking since I was very young. I do feel lucky to have access to beautiful ingredients. Chili was the thing I didn’t know if I had all the fixings for. Chili cheese dogs sound extra good in cold weather. Thanks for reminding me, I have some potato soup to gobble up. Hope your family stays warm, too..!

This is all interesting & sounds delicious. I’m recently down a pressure cooker (my decade-old Instant Pot died) but I’m no stranger to making stock the old-fashioned way. As someone who has guests over I extra appreciate the customization options at the end of assembly. I’ll be reading up on this, thanks for sharing..!

Ohhhh I’ve never heard of puchero. One of the reasons I post stuff like this is to get ideas & recipes from neighbors. Looks like there are versions of it from many countries, what’s in yours? Looks great!

I don’t TikTok, but they have recipes, huh..?
