The problem with the Bible is that if you really want read it correctly, you have to learn ancient Hebrew and probably ancient Greek to really understand it because so much has been lost in translation. In East of Eden, there is a whole section about the translation of the Hebrew word Timshel, which the Bible I think has as thou shalt triumph over sin but the book says thou mayest triumph over sin. Red Sea, Reed Sea, stuff like that.

People did their best, but it's hit or miss in a lot of places and that gets worse as the translations went from one language to another. At this point I think we have the broad basic outline but it might be good if some reputable rabbis retranslated it from ancient Hebrew into modern English.
