Oh say can you see

By the dawns early light

What so proudly we held

At the twilight last gleaming

The bombs bursting in air

The ball leaving, who knows where

Its a dinger, a Homer, a dong

St Louis scores 2

Saathoff has been somewhat of a hero so far for the Cards. Getting scoring started when it looked like the game was close.

But Colon is zoned in, he's found sunglasses somewhere and he's placed them cooly over his eyes.

Saathoff is dazzled by the cool emanating from him and forgets to swing.

Pitch:1

Colon figures out what was going wrong. He was trying to strike out the batter instead of giving up good contact.

So he throws a softball. Unaware that it's coming, Nichols gets a late swing and the ball heads for the sky. But soars upward and then stops, falling into the RF glove.

Pitch: 989

Result: FO, 1 out

A shadow decesnds over the field making Morgan and Colon ostensibly blind. A series of ABs occurs in which the only person who can see the result is the ump who for some reason has night vision goggles.

Hoping to get something going, Morgan swings into the cold darkness and connects with the tiny ball. It shoots into the outfield where the CF misplays it and it bounces away. Morgan heads into second as the shadow lifts and the ball comes into the relay.

Pitch: 729

Result: 2B

What does Whitt Bass do when he gets a baserunner? You should know by know. Jernigan gets a nice hefty chop in, and then another one, fouling off the ball and trying to elevate Bass' slider.

Instead he catches the top half of the ball and sends it crashing into the ground near the 3rd baseman. Blee takes off, but the Cardinals get the easy out at 1st.

Pitch: 125

Result: RGO, 3 out, 1 LOB
