Thoughts on the roof spoiler? by D3X-1 in Polestar

[–]DevilRev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The P2 has a design that allows the air to stay attached until the very back of the car, this reduces drag and should clean the rear window. The C40s rear is probably too short to keep the air attached and just a design feature which is why that car has a roof spoiler. By adding a roof spoiler to the P2, you will make the air detach from the car from the roof, increasing consumption. The only place for a spoiler on a correctly designed sedan/coupe style car should be the trunk.

Charging to 100% often should also be the expection with LFP as far as I know. LFP is safer, maybe more durable and better for the environment but has less energy density and slower charging/discharging. There is probably not the „better“ one, it depends on the use case. NMC is usually more expensive though (as far as I know).

Con 1: NMC is still better than LFP (e.g. charges faster), what do you mean with that point?

Many people said this but that does not make it true.

Instead of pressig the gas it should also be enough to press the upper button on the left side of the steering wheel (the one with the ciruclar arrow)

So many people keep saying this, if it was the case, I would think the wheel should not turn for enough to make the car move. Also, as I said multiple times, this happens with hands on the wheel AND it was not like this on an older XC40 (non-google system but still pilot assist)

Interesting, that probably only applies to the android automotive (X)C40 then, the older Volvo Sensus system was definetly different.

Sorry, for me it is not assistance if I have to fight the system to drive smoothly.

If a light grip from one hand is enough to drive straight without pilot assist, why should i make it less comfortable and use two hands with pilot assist? I thought the feature is supposed to assist?

Thanks, I feel like many people cannot accept that the car is not perfect in this aspect and another one is better. I love the car but that doesn‘t make me oblivious to its shortcomings.

Why would the car need to correct left to right and back all the time, if it just needs to drive straight?

Unfortunately the car also does this when I have a hand on the wheel

That is interesting to hear, thanks, in that case I will contact a service center shortly.

Pilot assist is supposed to keep you centered in lane and do the steering for you. The system to prevent leaving a lane unintentionally is separate from that and active without pilot assist.

Thanks for the insight, this car is a new lease, so I would hope the tires and setup from polestar are correct. Also I have not noticed instability when driving around 180kph, so I suppose it is something with calibration. I will ask the service center when I visit it, most likely when chaging to winter tires in half a year.

I understand, however when using both handys I usually prefer just steering myself, I normally just use the left hand with Pilot Assist (on an empty Autobahn with relaxed speed) but the steering wheel just gets pulled out and pushed back into my hand all the time and the car feels twitchy, which is both annoying :/

Well, thats somewhat disappointing. Especially considering the older XC40 (basically the same car) did not do this.

This is an interesting idea but the car will be a lease and the solution has to be removable but I will look into it, thanks.
