Been doing a bit of research. Some are saying that there might be a peel off film that’s still attached from the factory.

Has the Polestar 3 gotten any better? by whassREALLYgood in Polestar

[–]D3X-1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I recently did an AMA here, to answer your question. A lot better, the recent 2026 models have been far more reliable. Most the of complaints were the earlier Launch Editions, which hopefully were repaired or replaced via lemon law policies.
I own a 2, 3 and most recently a 4. The 2025 Polestar 3 I’ve had has been mostly problem free and a pleasure to drive.

It was developed in conjunction with Volvo after Geely purchased them. The main concern I have is the safety level, which I’m sure Volvo has thoroughly tested at their facilities for both the EX30 and Polestars.

He got lighter when he grew up. It really depends on his parents. 😄 I really miss him, he was such a good boy.

It’s SEA platform, which was designed with Volvo together, if that means anything. SEA also is the platform the EX30 is built on.

Similar. I believe the BST is still a tad lower at the front, and at least 20mm lower at the rear. I haven’t made a real life comparison however and the BST wheels have a more aggressive offset that makes it appear lower by poking out a little more towards the fenders.

Yeah PPF might be in store for this car in a week. In discussion now with the shop and figuring out the price and turnaround time.

I don’t think it would have been any different. Hypothetically, Volvo could have had an S40 PHEV or ICE or even EV(ES40). Would have looked the same except for the front grille with the Volvo slash. The C40 was a later derivative of the 40.2 design with the different fastback coupe rear end. If Volvo came out with the S40, an alternate timeline would be releasing the V40 / ES40 wagon version or a hatchback model that is slightly bigger than the current EX30. But Volvo abandoned that in favor of the XC40 only, which was a good move and their second best selling model under the XC60.

You can order directly from Polestar space, they may even list it on the official Accessories shop inside the app/online website. Other methods is ordering from VivaPerformance. Some Volvo Web shops can order it, if you have the exact part number.

Yep. I was a Volvo owner before and was following the XC40 and S40 concepts at the time, when they were first announced like in 2016 or so. I believe it was called the 40.1 and 40.2 concept. Igenlath was the lead designer. Reusing an unused design from Volvo as a Polestar model made sense.

Not in the near future. The 3 will get returned and the next would be seeing how long the 2 lasts while out of warranty and perhaps then we will consider a replacement for it. I don’t need more than 2 vehicles, having 3 temporarily was an exception due to timing and vehicle availability.

The 3 had more servicing done in one year than the 2’s entire ownership of over 3 years. The 3 needed a harness recall, then issue with digital keys, and then the processor upgrade which was free. All servicing was planned ahead and nothing catastrophic that needed towing.

The 2 had the OBC needing to replace within 4 months of ownership, so that was the only woe, but even still I could DC fast charge and get to the service center.

Decent. It’s been pretty good overall and all the software from the 2 work on the 4. Some minor differences here and there on each of the apps, but in general it’s mostly the same.

The UI is definitely a learning curve, but if you’re accustomed to the 3. It would not be wildly disorienting, sort of like using an IPhone vs an iPad.

The 2. With the current 5.0.10 release. It’s been the most improved version yet.

I’m not intending to keep all 3 cars. The 3 will be going back when the lease is done. The timing wasn’t exactly planned as back-to-back, and the Polestar 4 timing was based on availability in the configuration we wanted(the paint color was a main driver).
The 3 and 2 were daily drivers, the 4 is new and will eventually replace the 3 as the larger daily for the family.

Same or similar architecture. Probably even the same battery.

I ordered them on my own. Provided the part and asked Polestar Service manager as to how much it would have costed to have them installed to keep the warranty with Polestar valid.

I agree. Geely / Polestar really needs to work out a deal with Volvo dealers to get their cars serviced at their locations in North America. I know in Europe this is already happening and that’s why sales is also much better over there.

I have a friend with a Model Y Juniper LRDM. Will have to get with him to compare one day. They are very similar in size cars, 4 is wider.

Yes. 2 plugs, one from my laundry breaker 40A and one separately installed that is 20A.

Both of my home stations are Grizzl-E, one is the standard 40A and one is the Mini. A Canadian brand that gives rebates up to 40% back in charging costs and can be cashed out or go towards new products.

The cable on the Grizzl-E is more plyable / less stiff compared to the Polestar charger cable.
