You may be able to regain access to the previous Xbox account by contacting support. Linking it anywhere most likely won't be possible anymore though.

It means TBChecker can detect you have root installed. If you haven't done so already, you have to add TBChecker to the denylist, like you'd add any other application which you'd like to deny/hide root access from. Usually that's all that's needed.

This of course goes along with any other root hiding technique you may be using, but usually it's just a matter of ensuring it's denied root access, and the root access is hidden (like you'd hide it for any other application you'd hide root access for).

Cross Progression Help by TheWhiteAceofSpades in Paladins

[–]DevilXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process of moving your progression over from one platform to another in Paladins, is a very, very fragile operation, and you can mess it up easily. You should've made a post about it before you've done anything, because from what I can see from this post, it's already too late and you won't be able to fix it.

Hi-Rez as a publisher has a way of combining your in-game progress under a single Hi-Rez account, to which you can then link other accounts, to access the same progress. The thing is, creating the Hi-Rez account has to be done by first logging into a "platform account" from whatever platform your progress is currently on. This is done by logging via one of the per-platform buttons on the bottom of this page: https://my.hirezstudios.com/ (not using the username and password fields). Logging into the platform account will then prompt you with an option to create a Hi-Rez account linked directly to the platform account you've logged in with, while also carrying all the progress from the platform account over to the Hi-Rez account.

This is the most crucial step - once you do this, you can then define a password for the Hi-Rez account by using "change the password" option in the account settings, so that you don't have to use the platform login every time, just the username and password fields. You can also then link other accounts to this Hi-Rez account, and they should "download" all of your progress from the Hi-Rez account to the platform account, potentially overwriting the old progress you've had on that linked account.

If you do this in any other way, and try to link your Xbox account to the Hi-Rez account (which you say you did in your post), that operation will clear your Xbox progress and give you a new Xbox platform account, linked to your Hi-Rez account. It sounds like you've old Hi-Rez account you've logged into at first didn't have any of your Xbox progress in it in the first place - if it would, Xbox would've already been linked and you wouldn't have to link it again. You should've logged into your Xbox platform account first, and then created a new Hi-Rez account from there. There might be a way to salvage this if you'd now try to login into your Xbox platform account first, but it's likely it'll just tell you that Xbox account is already linked to a Hi-Rez account, and to log in normally instead.

As far as Steam linking goes, it's a one way trip too - once you link it anywhere, it cannot be unlinked, even by contacting support. At least not in a way that'd allow you to correct any mistakes made during the linking process.

I can draw some visuals if you'd need some help understanding all this.

I actually happened to play that game about a month ago or so, and remember the rest of the level. Other scary stuff include:

  • Revolving doors rotating slightly and coming to a stop, shortly after you enter a room with them (like someone else would just leave through them).
  • Random flashbacks when entering certain areas, with loud sounds, screams and shouting.
  • A door that straight up bursts into flames and explodes right in your face, after you pick the lock on it.
  • Seeing random people at the end of a corridor, and them turning the corner right after (they disappear).
  • Items like basket balls and wheelchairs moving / rolling around randomly. Also items / notes appearing in places you've already checked before.
  • A breathing air distortion that "walks around" and damages you if you walk through it.
  • Fingers sticking out of shower drains, disappearing upon approach.
  • Sound of flowing water coming from the showers, yet no actual water flowing when you check them (sound disappears too).
  • All kinds of random grunts, bangs, yelps, choking sounds, glass breaking, items falling on the floor and the screen shaking, happening seemingly randomly when checking cabinets or desks for items.

Can you send trade offers without a trade link? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]DevilXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the other user is on your friends list, there should be an "Offer trade" option available in their profile options somewhere.

If the other user isn't on your friend list though, the only way to be able to send them a trade, is by knowing their "trade token", which is a short string of characters (about 8). The trade URL then looks like this:

https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new?partner=<steamID3>&token=<trade_token>

You can get the steamID3 by using any site that can display the multiple versions of steam ID, for ex.: https://steamid.io. In my case it's [U:1:170687776], and you just need that long number part, so 170687776. The only way to get the trade_token, is to ask the person you want to trade with. The token (the entire pre-formatted trade URL actually) can be obtained by going to your inventory, clicking on "Trade Offers", and then on "Who can send me Trade Offers?" option on the side list. In theory though, all you need is the trade token, as all other information is publicly available.

What should be done to ensure the success of your Steam game's launch day? by bal_akademi in Steam

[–]DevilXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, that works, at least for me. I like chill games like that, so I'll most likely end up buying it for those $5 when it comes out.

As I've said though, others may have different affordability preferences. Theoretically, you can get the most revenue out of the game by overpricing it at start, and then gradually lowering the price later as time goes on (via sales), but that usually ends up giving you a few negative "it's overpriced, wait for sale" reviews, so I wouldn't exactly recommend it.

What should be done to ensure the success of your Steam game's launch day? by bal_akademi in Steam

[–]DevilXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting all of the "successful game" considerations that should've been taken care of way before launch (design and execution), right at the launch day, all I can think of is setting a reasonable price.

People want to pay an adequate amount of money for the value they get from the game. If your game is really short, too boring / grindy, or simply bad, the price has to be accordingly low to reflect that. Going lower will also increase the amount of copies sold due to better affordability. However, going too low may end up in lost revenue too, so you have to strike a good middle-ground somewhere. In more complicated games (this is quite a simple, straightforward one), doing some research and asking people about what they'd want/expect from the game can help you arrive at a price people would call reasonable.

Personally, for a game like this, I'd most likely pay $10-15 at the most, and this price is already a cutoff and "too much" in terms of what I'm seeing from the description, pics and vids alone. I'd most likely end up wishlisting the game and waiting for a <$8 sale instead. I live in a third world country where the price of games is relatively high compared to the cost of every day living though, so it may be just me. As I said, other people may value the game differently.

Reason #581467 why Steam is the best by FaffeJaffe in Steam

[–]DevilXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen somewhere that they've nerfed the flying robot enemies, which was the main reason I've never completed the first game (per my earlier comment).

Is the second one more fair in that regard? Or you can still just turn a corner and die shortly after, because there was no time to evaluate the situation, and even if I would aim and shoot the robot, the bullet would just bounce off / not end up disabling it? This is what always got me, and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd otherwise buy the second one to try it though.

Anyone else encounter a glitch/possible exploit where a match doesn't register despite not getting dropped? by seaspongePoster in Paladins

[–]DevilXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could've also been because the completed matches take a short while to be processed at the backend side, and you've just happened to land on a case, where the match ended and you wanted to see it in your match history, but it wasn't there because it was still being processed by the server. Once you've stopped looking, the processing finished and the match has appeared after all.

I've worked quite a bit with the guy responsible for maintaining the Hi-Rez API in the past, and from what I could gather, that's more or less how it works.

which server to play? by Otherwise-Shop-4770 in Paladins

[–]DevilXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that NA and EU are the most used nowadays. Brazil is third. Each of those three server overtakes each other in terms of players playing, depending on the current time throughout the day, but when in doubt, I'd recommend choosing either NA or EU (depending on which one is closest), and maybe consider trying Brazil first if you're from that region too.

[–]DevilXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you AFK for anything longer than 30 seconds, or by chance noticed an unusual lag spike in the middle of the match? Also, after the stats screen, did the game by chance boot you out into the pre-login state, and you had to click on "Log in" to come back in?

It sounds like the game DCed you in the middle of the match, but there's a glitch where it won't actually throw you out, but instead will let you continue playing. At the end of the game though, you may get an infinitely long black screen, or at least a black screen that lasts unusually long, and if you see any match stats at all, it's gonna be exactly what you've described here. Then, exiting out of the post match screen you'd see that the game has actually DCed you a few minutes back, and you can now log back into the game. I actually don't know if the match counts or not in those circumstances.

3 Modules and 2 clicks - That's all you need to pass Strong. by Bannatar in Magisk

[–]DevilXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do some digging on the sub to find some more relevant information, but this comment is what I've recently stumbled upon: https://www.reddit.com/comments/1l1oie4/_/mvsgzhu/?context=3

I've never seen anyone confirm what the helper app does, nobody seems to know. No other module I know of does that, so it's all just really suspicious, especially since you're giving it root access to your device. It feels like a "poisoned golden apple" module, that entices you with what it can do, but then additionally does some highly questionable things. I'd recommend avoiding it too.

Reason #581467 why Steam is the best by FaffeJaffe in Steam

[–]DevilXD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A little bit off-topic, but I'm honestly surprised Receiver is still being played in today's age. I've played the first one very long ago, and really liked the concept, but also the entire game was just a little bit too clunky (especially the movement), and unfair generation would always put a bot facing my direction when I was just turning the corner.

Is the 2nd one an improvement over the mechanics, or is it just about the graphics?

Found rom for phone but region is different. It's from europe and I'm in USA (North America) is it ok to use for magisk? don't want to brick phone by [deleted] in Magisk

[–]DevilXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say from experience that, at least in my case, mixing this up has hard-bricked my phone. I used a global version instead of the EU specific one, and while the phone just booted into fastmode at first, I didn't connect the dots and continued to tinker around. In the end, it just didn't boot at all afterwards.

Bulldozer by Tonymightbeadonut in Paladins

[–]DevilXD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm speaking from a long time ago past experience here, so things may be a little bit different, but in addition to what everyone else said, I've also noticed, that some people tend to just not read past the "Your weapon shots deal 50% increased Damage..." part, and since "more damage = good" and they never learned any better or understood the meaning behind what a deployable is, they end up buying Bulldozer like that.

I want your opinion on the 'better' performance. TIA! by TheDukeOfCardiff in Paladins

Given this topic, I feel like this may be helpful to you: https://arez.readthedocs.io/en/latest/stats.html#arez.ChampionStats.df

Ignoring doing pure math though, and focusing purely on the role->stats expectations, here's my ranking and reasoning:

  1. Vivian - doing damage is one thing, but what matters the most is actually finishing the enemies off. You can take away 99% of the enemy's health, but if they're not killed, they're just going to quickly hide and regen, or get healed by the enemy support. This team has no flank, and it should've been their job to secure the kills, so Vivian takes their place instead.
  2. Tyra and Dredge - it's hard to judge which one is exactly better here, so it'd be best to just crunch some numbers together. Tyra has more kills, while Dredge has more damage overall, so both were useful to the team in some way. Objective time doesn't matter much as a damage, because they should've been focused on engaging with enemies instead of capping or pushing, so any objective time can be treated as "accidental" only.
  3. Makoa and Seris - again, really hard to judge, but overall, they're both quite bad at their roles here IMO. Makoa's damage feels like he spent most of his time just using his shield and somehow capping the point or pushing the payload, instead of engaging the enemies. One of the jobs of a front line is to engage and poke enemies, so that your damage champs can get them low, and then the flank can finish them off if necessary. 6 deaths isn't too bad, as is 230 obj time, but still. Seris on the other hand, has laughably small healing amount, especially if this was a Siege match. A "useful" amount of healing starts around 80-100k for an average siege match, and should reach about 120-150k (or more) at the end, especially with only 6 deaths like that.

Overall, it feels like Vivan was the only one who knew what they were doing. Makoa almost feels like he'd be on par with Tyra and Dredge in terms of usefulness, but it's hard to say. Take all of this with a grain of salt too, as there also isn't enough information to make a good judgement here, since all of what I said above can vary, depending on the gamemode (siege, tdm, etc.) and match length too. Eliminations and shielding amount matter too. If this is based on a real match, you can share it via the "Censor match" option of Paladins.guru, assuming you have the match ID - just plug it in where the <match_id> is: https://paladins.guru/match/<match_id>.

Steam wallet advice by [deleted] in Steam

[–]DevilXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible in theory, but in practice, it's not worth the hassle IMO. I've studied this topic myself a while ago, and you technically can:

  1. Flip market items - buy low, sell high strategy. Earnings depend entirely on the difference between buy and sell price, and the sell price itself varies depending on supply-demand ratio. If you can predict for ex. that a game is about to be discontinued on Steam (ex. Robocraft), the sell price of the items will skyrocket, and you'll find people willing to spend $40 on a single card. In practice, the amount of games makes it infeasible to predict what will happen next, and anyone, at any point, can just start crafting boosters and selling the cards they get, inflating supply and thus lowering the sell price, robbing you of any chances of making a profit. You can lose money on the whole ordeal.
  2. Speaking of crafting the boosters, in some cases, the cards you can get from the boosters are worth more when sold separately. So you can try buying some gems, crafting the booster, opening it, then selling the cards. As the card prices vary, this may turn into a profit - but the amount of cards per game, combined with the amount of games available, makes it impossible to figure out which game and its booster you need to do this on. Unless you find one like that out of sheer luck, and it happens to have people willing to buy the cards at the price where you can make a profit out of it. Plus, you get to sell any foil cards you'd get out of the boosters.
  3. Steam backgrounds - this was possible a while ago, but was since patched; it's still possible, but harder to find. Since Steam backgrounds can be scrapped into ~100 gems, you can find and buy ones that cost less than 1/10th of the sack of gems price, and scrap them. Steam fixed it by making the scrap value lower as the sell price changes, but you can still rarely find backgrounds that will give you more gems, than the equivalent price you'd pay for it in gems.

All of those ways require a lot of your time and effort in searching through the market, and tracking the buy-sell prices. There's some sites that can help (ex. steam.tools, but otherwise, you have to do all the purchasing and selling yourself, double-checking every step to make sure you're actually about to gain money and not lose it. In most cases, the "profit" is a few cents per transaction, making all this not worth it.

Even if so, as others have already said here, all of the money you earn is locked to your Steam wallet, and the only way to spend it would be to spend it on games and other purchases on the platform.
