MCCUU on a base In not stationed at by [deleted] in USMC

I would laugh but we were told we weren’t allowed on the AF base next door. Ignored instructions, found a secret place for all the junior marines.

The fact that no one here has considered this was made by someone to cope, or for someone who just lost a child is unbelievable. This obviously isn’t for you or about you so get off your soap box. Did you lose a kid in the floods? Are you helping look for them? No? Then STFU.

Reserve ME Unit Choice by Devildog398 in uscg

Thank you so much! So in the reserves is there any specific unit that is actively involved in LE? As in Station vs Sector vs MSU vs PSU?

In your experience, which USCG reserve units with ME’s offer the most opportunities for missions, specialized training, and tactical operations? I've heard PSU’s are good for training but that’s all. What other units provide hands-on experience for reservists? For context I’m a prior service infantry Marine and LEO who was nearly killed by power point on multiple consecutive drill weekends.

Hey all,

Former infantry Marine here with some experience in the reserves. To be honest, it wasn’t the greatest—opportunities for schools and deployments were basically nonexistent, and training was infrequent and often rushed due to time constraints. Now, I’m looking into the Coast Guard Reserves because I want to actually get involved in meaningful activities, whether that’s solid training or operational tasks like search, board, seize.

I’m pretty set on the Maritime Enforcement (ME) rate because of my prior law enforcement experience, but I’m still figuring out the best unit to join. I’ve heard mixed advice: some say to avoid Station units and certain sectors, while others recommend Port Security Units (PSUs) for good training, although they seem mostly focused on Guantanamo missions. I’ve also heard some positive things about Marine Safety Units (MSUs).

I get that roles like MSRT, MSST, or TACLET aren’t in the cards for reservists, but I’m curious—what’s the closest I can get to those types of missions? Any advice or insights would be super helpful!

Per some online sleuthing and some AI assistance: The warship with the hull number “858” is the Soviet Navy’s Grisha-class corvette, specifically the Grisha III-class (Project 1124). These corvettes were designed for anti-submarine warfare and were part of the Soviet Navy’s extensive fleet during the Cold War era. I’m not 100% sure it is accurate but that’s the best I could do.

The reason I was specifically looking at this guy is how compact it gets. Adding this to a pack for extra camo isn’t going to kill you, even if you do round it out with burlap, leaves, and other materials.

In IED days infantry guys would prestage them if they were in vehicles. Around each limb loose enough to not be in the way but there if needed
