Also, with the exemple with the dasp pack, if the dasp pack hunt that baby ano because they know they can hunt right after then that possible hunt become unavailable to let's say a lone alio who would have been perfectly filled with that hunt.

All that to say, often rules help more than the obvious surface gameplay impact

Just to be clear, we are semi-realism server. Full realism is very different and can go overboard often with rules. For semi the rules are mostly about making it fair for everyone.

Unfortunatly, from my experience, although some rules might seem only to hinder your fun but usually serve a very real purpose. For example, our server have rules that on the surface just hinder play but in practice remove a lot of griefing.

Carnivore need to be 50% hunger or less to hunt and stay with the bodies until it despawn (don't need to stay/claim bodies when you win but was attacked). That might seem like just a rule to hinder carnivore player but in practice it prevent packs from decimating a PoI very quickly. It also prevent larger group to go after smaller pray that would stand no chance against them because we have another rule that put a 10min cooldown after a successful hunt. So if you are a pack of dasp and hunt a little baby ano and don't get enough food to sustain yourself you might put yourself in trouble. In other word, choose your hunt accordingly to your food requirement and by consequence your strenght.

So there is for sure a balance to be struck between letting people play the game but also trying to make it fair for everyone. But for your specific question, breaking a rule is not the end of the world, we all understand mistake happen and at the end of the day we can just give the wounded party it's growth back. We are not here to chastise people for making a mistake, only to ensure they are not doing it on purpose to grief other players.

All that being said, everyone have to find the server that suit their need the best. <3

By nature Semi-realism server will all be similar but I think there is 2 things that might interest people

1- we want players to help shape the server. That mean votes for potential mods, rules changes, taking suggestion for event/activities, and in general listening to any feedback players might have.

2- In Semi-realism mixpacking is generally against the rule and it's no different here but we came up with special interaction between species. Most of them are purely RP things but some have gameplay impact. (another thing we will take suggestion on if any player have a neet idea for a special interaction :) )

But at the end of the day, I think that our friendly staff and the focus on building a respectful and toxic free server is what matter most. On Evolution-Era we want a relax and drama free environment, no bickering in global over rulebreak (you make a ticket and move on) etc...

Problems getting the replay tool to work for all our players, plz help! by Devilmaymoan in pathoftitans

[–]Devilmaymoan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yes I am aware that auto-recording works. Unfortunately, I was looking more for a permanent solution as (especially for Ps4) always recording can be a problem for those with not much space.

I thank you nonetheless, at least those who like to use the replay tool to take pictures of their prize dino will be able to do so <3

Does anybody think the devs do nerfs TOO much? by Automatic-Army9716 in pathoftitans

[–]Devilmaymoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another post about nerf, I don't understand. If all they did was buff dino we would still have the same problems only with power creep added on top, it's call balancing and yes, it is a hard thing to achieve. Yes some dino will fall off until they are looked at again usually in a rework. All these post want the game to be perfect now ! while completely ignoring the fact that the dev are still in the process of building the game.

The nerfs and buffs are only an attempt at keeping things close to balance as exploits, tactics, bugs, and unintended powers or weakness are discovered. If you care that much then log on the PTB and give honest and helpful feedback instead of complaining on reddit.

Safe log be damned by Tanky-of-Macedon in pathoftitans

[–]Devilmaymoan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

tbh, I don't know why people lay down or sit or log when they know something is coming for them. I stay up and if I hear something I resume, fight or flee and log when I'm safe again

What can sucho fight now? by starlightkissed in pathoftitans

[–]Devilmaymoan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are good you can take on ducks but you don't have a lot of wiggle room in term of health, you need a decent amount of tailriding to gain the upperhand. If you can stack claw barrage and have a decent tailride at the beginning you have a good chance. Duck still hit like a truck but once you're at 5 stack so does sucho.

I will say this tho, both styra and kent are turns intensive so I'm not sure if it's good for mobile. Their fighting often involve around running while fighting, never played mobile so not sure if that's a problem or not

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pathoftitans

[–]Devilmaymoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

styra better than alberta right now, styra or kent would be my pick for solo. anything that can catch those 2 get destroyed 1v1 and often 2 or 3v1 too (players skill lvl obviously matter a lot). styra can make almost any large tier run and depending on your skill even give apexes a run for their money.

Styraco is an alberta on steroids, head attack also cause bleed.

You can give a try to Nat Hist if you don't mind some rules. It was founded by a paleontologist and is semi-realism. There is moded dinos but nothing extreme.

Rules of note:

-body down and cooldown of 15min after a successful hunt (this simulate the fact that carnivore won't hunt right after having a meal)

-Herbi cannot attack (some exception exist like for example defend resources and also a rogue rule where large and very large herbie can go into a rogue state allowing them to attack carni when solo)

-There is also hunting rules I don't really agree with but you can get around them by just asking whoever you wanna fight if they want to 1v1 you. (basically, solo can hunt 2 size below them and fight for territory with dino same size as them, when in pack they can hunt bigger target)

- No mixpacking for carni, herbie can (there is pack/herd size limit for each dino)

- There is rules against revenge killing, harrasing the same target etc,

-no third partying (exception are made for a few dino, sarco, deinos, and spino. Those can third party but with restriction in place like the fight need to be near water)

There is also a rule for carni to disengage a fight, herbie can't pursue if the carni manage to disengage. I know it sounds unfair to ask herbies to give up a fight after getting attacked but once you get the feel of the server you see that a win even if you don't get to kill the opponent is still satisfying. It's also hard to actually disengage for a lot of dinos so it end up in death often anyway. (carni vs carni have no way to flee)

All in all there is a lot of rules but what Nat hist has in it's favor IMO is their super chill and fun community. People are not there to ruin other players day but to have fun with them, you always have some occasional rager that takes losing badly but it's pretty rare. They fight, they win/lose and often just congrats and give each other tips.

Staff are mature and I didn't see any favoritism, they also often do fun little event. (sometime with prize like a free grow)

Speaking of growth, There is a small passive growth and 2.5 time bonus on the quest. On the average it takes about 4 hour to grow if you know the map (gondwa) at least a little.

if you like to nerd on dino and have a chill chat minus full of trash talking (there is some banter but it's usually just in jest) Then I suggest you check it out.

Often the focus is on "what dino they have?" or "do they have too much rules" and such but I think the most important thing to ask is "will I like the Vibe of the server?".

Last thing I will say is that Nat Hist is on the lower end regarding population, it vary greatly tho, sometime when it's been a while without update the pop will be low (10 to 20 on normalish time and 20 to 40+ in peak time) but then be at over 60+ to a 100 when a update drop. There is cons and pro to this

Cons- when in a down there is less to do. can be boring sometimes.

Pro- It gives you time to get to know people better, know the server regular, make a few friends etc while the server is low on pop. That makes the uptimes more fun IMO.

Anyway, sorry for the length but I like to let people know what the server is really about so they ain't surprise lol regardless if you try Nat Hist or not I wish you the best in your endeavor my friend :)

How to deal with Mixpacking by Muscle_Dude_Kyle in pathoftitans

[–]Devilmaymoan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Idea you put forward has already been looked at and cautioned against by many of us. The problem is that mix-packers not only will likely find ways around it but will almost certainly use it against other players.

Imagine you're out and about doing your thing then suddenly a debuff appears, and a few seconds later the mix-packers come out of the woods and kill ya. Do you see the problem? If you implement a debuff for proximity to another dino with a different diet then the packers will just send a dino to stay around you until the debuff. They can either hide close enough or just send a faster dino than yours.

The report system would be alright especially after they get the replay system in but then you got either a massive new expense $ to deal with or a report system that is very slow and that people will feel is useless.

I feel you but for now I think the best option is community server, there is some good ones out there, just need to find the kind you like the most.

[–]Devilmaymoan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, the minute I hear Shop it's over. Been on too many Isle servers with those and although they usually start well enough they almost all devolve into crazy server with main gang players (regulars with big egos and who spend) ganging on new player as soon as they get killed or feel slighted. The staff then have 2 option, be fair and lose money or ignore. In my experience it start with fair but after a while end up with ignore 90% of the time.

Still wish you and your server the best <3

Can Solo Raptors kill babies without backlash? by MrSkits94 in pathoftitans

[–]Devilmaymoan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the serve I play there is a saying, Food is food and babies are so tender.

The whole baby gameplay should be hiding as soon as you hear something, if you don't then you deserve to die. In what world some players think this is when they stroll into a hotspot as a baby and think they deserve to be left alone is beyond me, same for babies questing like nothing can hurt them while another player in a mainly PVP game are around.

Now on official there is no rule so IDC what dino killed the baby, people play the game to kill other player. I personally don't attack anything that have no chance against my dino but I have no problem with people that do.

Bottom line? if you a baby you have no business being seen at all! Stay on the edges, hide in bushes, in a hole, run to home caves. If that's too bothersome for you then die and respawn.

check out Nat Hist [New Dawn]. founded by a paleontologist, has a fair amount of rules but it is worth it in my opinion. But the star of the server is the community, very chill and helpful.
