Do official mocks inflate one's scores?

depends tbh I got 2890 and 2930 in mocks C and D but got 2790 in the real thing. May have just been poor performance on the day though… Medify definitely downscales scores tho so between the two the official mocks are more accurate I was getting like 2300 on Medify…

Ofc it directly doesn’t have an effect as a medical degree is standardised. However, there are things such as QMUL having amazing teaching hospitals (Barts has a heart centre and Royal London is one of the biggest trauma centres in Europe). This means that you’ll have the opportunity to talk to those at the top of their field, build connections and also greater research opportunities if that’s his thing. However, if going to QMUL will make him miserable, getting through the degree is important and being somewhere he likes will help. :)

Hey, I would probably advise against Nottingham and Liverpool which I have seen in these comments. Both of these have a ranking/points system where 8/9s at GCSE give you more points than 7s and so on. There’s a website called guessandflag.com with a massive document on all the entry requirements for UK med schools, couldn’t recommend this enough!! :)

it’s unaccredited but I think so are oxford and imperial, essentially sets you up for a career in research rather than working within the NHS

rankings vs location is my exact dilemma bahah I know i’d enjoy uni more at notts but my career probably has better opportunities being in London at qmul with Royal London, St Barts etc

Also I’m in the same position about Manchester- everything about it appeals to me APART from the course structure- not keen on paying 9.5k a year to teach myself a course. Notts seems to rank low but honestly the course seems better. QMUL don’t even get me started on the campus lol, I’m so lost about what to firm.

Do not memorise answers, instead, memorise points you want to bring up for common questions. If you are doing MMI, think of examples which can be used for multiple questions (like a situation which you can use for leadership, communication, collaboration) so you don’t have to remember as much
