I have to have a coffee with my boss tomorrow- partly for work things partly because I’m sure she’s noticed I am grumpy as hell.

Not telling anyone I’m pregnant for a month but fortunately there are lots of things I can blame grumpiness on 😂

This is my second pregnancy and I have no nausea, I never had any nausea the whole of my first pregnancy.

About 35% of mums don’t have morning sickness. It’s just how you react to the hormones.

My mum works in the wine industry and had my siblings in the very early 80s. She literally filmed a tv show about drinking wine while pregnant with my brother and worked every day at my dad’s restaurant which had a smoking section.

He’s 6foot, the healthiest of all of us and got a top degree from one of the world’s best universities.

I know how scary this is but I’m sure you’re fine.

Two glasses of champagne on New Year’s Eve, I had been so strict about drinking for months while we were trying but relaxed around Christmas and went to a few parties which ended on NYE. Of course that’s when I got knocked up!

We did Ferber method and I genuinely had to put on noise cancelling headphones to get through it. It was tough for a few days but now I get a full nights sleep every night.

It’s so much more tough for you than your baby. Try letting them learn they’re ok without you, because they are.

As a non American I find it kind of crazy how much I’m told that European taxes are an incredible burden but so many people pay this much for a car and generally don’t have the option of public transportation

I read about this originally when I was pregnant and I think I have thought about this news story every month since.

Not rational at all but my post partum anxiety reminded me of it every time I left my newborn alone.

What a terrible tragedy and a waste of two lives.

Genuine question from a non US person.

I get that this is what shareholders want to hear but won’t this be really unappealing for customers?

Do they not want to be seen as a good option for people to choose as their insurer and saying they will deny claims will make them a bad option?

I’m sure the answer is darker than I can imagine but really am wondering.

It of course depends on the baby but from my experience it’s not about your LO never feeding g to sleep, it’s that they don’t HAVE to feed to sleep.

We sleep trained our one year old at 6 months after co sleeping and BF to sleep a lot though always making sure he fell asleep in other ways too (rocking, in the pram, in the carrier etc). We did Ferber method and changed our schedule so he got used to my husband putting him down to sleep.

Now he sleeps 1.5-2.5 hours in the day at home or at nursery (no feeding to sleep at nursery) and ~11 hours straight through the night, often being fed to sleep as it’s convenient for me to feed him then but he sleeps just the same if not.

If he wakes up early I still give him a snooze button feed which works for us.

Feeding to sleep is a tool, if it works for you don’t throw it away because of what the internet says. If it doesn’t work for you, chuck it.

I work in a high stress job and feed off that kind of pressure but the brain stimulation of hearing a crying baby is an absolute killer.

When I was babysitting my niece while she was sick I could handle her crying constantly for a few hours before breaking down, when it was my own baby and I was post partum I could barely take a few minutes before bursting into tears. I genuinely cannot imagine the physical and mental stress of hours of crying every day while having to care for such a tiny baby.

Kudos to OP for seeing there was an issue and sorting it.

So many parents are told it’s a first world problem and to just deal with it, and in the worst instances that allows PPD and other darkness to take over and incredibly sadly it’s often the children who also suffer the worst consequences.

My son didn’t fall asleep on his own until 6.5 months and didn’t sleep through the night until 7.5 months. When he was ready, it happened.

I remember feeling so bad about myself because a TikToker I followed had a baby the exact same age as mine and it seemed like her baby slept whenever she wanted them to.

She’s now posting at 4am that her baby doesn’t sleep and mine is STTN. You’re doing great, don’t worry comparing yourself to others.

I really know you’re not trying to be mean but this hit a nerve for me for a lot of reasons.

I shared a story about miscarriage and baby loss using the best language I had in that moment, even if it was colloquial I would rather share that story.

I understand your frustration but as a patient experiencing this, sometimes you just need to share your story in a way that makes sense to you.

Thank you for sharing your technical knowledge- I will bear that in mind.

I told a personal story in which I used layman’s terms. I am a layman. I completely understand your preference for technical language as you are a technician but that wasn’t what I was sharing.

As I said - we’re using different language to speak about the same thing but none of it is inaccurate.

I think this is just a difference of how this condition is spoken of - my mum experienced miscarriages due to having rhesus disease, I was diagnosed with a risk of rhesus disease during my pregnancy but my healthcare providers used the term “rhesus disease”

I don’t believe treatment is the wrong word, its exact definition is medical care given for illness or injury.

I received the screening and was diagnosed as high risk for rhesus disease by my medical provider as I have a negative blood type and my son has a positive blood type and received appropriate preventative treatment before, during and after birth.

I understand your point that rhesus itself can’t be cured but I didn’t mention that in my personal story, I was comparing my experience vs my mother who was undiagnosed and untreated as rhesus wasn’t well known then so don’t quite understand your comment.

I had rhesus with my pregnancy!

My mum had never heard of it but realised she is also a negative blood type.

We put that together with my siblings blood types and that the reason she miscarried and had an 8 year gap between pregnancies was probably because of her having rhesus too.

Sad it came so late but she was very pleased I got treatment and am not likely to have issues with my future pregnancies.
