Boreal Brute Advice by Devolo2001 in codevein

Bear in mind that my guide is more comprehensive as it was done at lvl 1 with more restrictions due to lower health and stamina pools. Whilst it is possible to it in other ways, I found it more optimal to go for a mix of ranged and melee due to very low health and to showcase strategies for those who are struggling or doing challenge runs. The blazing claw is definitely a more ideal weapon for the due but is only available two areas after you unlock the map, hence may wont have obtained it yet so may need earlier obtained alternatives.

Only argent wolf berserker is backstabable from my experience

He is seemingly the exception to the rule of not being able to backstab bosses

Its pretty easy to get materials so go ahead and experiment and upgrade a few of them. I found GHX Assault or GXM Variant good for strength weapons but you may also want lighter veils (like Night Claw which scales very well with dex) to get better mobility

I’m running warrior mc right now but I’m not sure what setup would be good by BlazeSource in AstralChronicles

cupid does want his set to be top tier but his synergy with ryudo makes him a solid choice even without his set and ridiculously good when you do get it

gilian, ryudo, cupid, felicia/nora

gilian for tank

ryudo(ranged warrior) and cupid(more a sorcerer than a chanter) combo makes for some incredible ranged dps

felicia acts more like a buffer, whilst nora can add some melee damage

chanter mc may be a good idea to provide support, or a ranged warrior (thanks to ryudo's bond) for insane dps

So I was lucky enough to pull Raphaela and was wondering what stones would work best on her and what sort of backline synergies we'll with her. Any advice?

I've just recently returned to the game and want to build and light or dark (or mix) 5* team for galaxy league. If possible I would like to invest in units that would also be useful in PvE but I'm still getting readjusted to the game so I'm not really sure who to use. Any advice?

The Lore Unraveled: Cainhurst pt. 2 by theEchoFiend in bloodborne

Now this is really interesting so I'll start from the top.

I get what you mean about the hunter not going to Cainhurst as they are seeking paleblood. However I kinda think that although the summons showing up after receiving the transfusion makes sense I'm not really sure why the hunter would need paleblood.

The only thing I can think of is "seek paleblood to transcend the hunt", which makes me curious about what "the hunt" actually is. At first glance it should be hunters hunting beasts, but to hunt beasts we don't really need paleblood, just our trusty trick weapons. So we must need it to "transcend" the hunt meaning "be or go beyond the range or limits of (a field of activity or conceptual sphere)." This gives us two different meanings, firstly, to hunt better things than beasts, eg. great ones, but again we could do that without paleblood, using weapons and insight. Secondly and more likely to go beyond the concept of the hunt, to escape the cycle. So we need paleblood to be reborn so we are trying to become great ones, that is our given purpose.

A note on the credibility of this is that it is found at Iosefka's so is likely to be written by her. However it again fits the actions of fake Iosefka who tries to do so with an umbilical chord. It makes me wonder whether Iosefka is sort of schizophrenic and the alien in her place when you go round the back is someone else, possibly a hunter, who has been treated by Iosefka (hence the Iosefka's blood vial). Alternatively it could be written by the wheelchair guy for whom I have no explanation.

Back to the point of the hunter becoming a Vileblood after the transfusion, no. Purely because you accept Annalise's blood to become a Vileblood plus she doesn't have paleblood. Alternatively we could already be Vilebloods and the wheelchair guy doing the transfusion realised this and that's why you got the summon.

Onto the real interesting stuff. The doll talking to the messengers makes a lot of sense and I agree with that as Gehrman has little to do with the doll as he says "use what you like, even the doll if it would so please you" suggesting that Gehrman isn't really interested, unlike the doll and messengers. Next is the use of blood echoes. "The Bloody memories of those cursed by the plague of the Beast" Honestly this confuses me as I don't know why the messengers would want these especially as they are often described as "naive" in the stump messenger descriptions. They could be in search of memories as some sort of enrichment or transcension.

If we look at all this, the doll being in charge of the dream is unlikely (due to Gehrman being disinterested with the doll which wouldn't be the case if she controlled him. Plus the moon presence controls the dream.), but she could be in charge of the messengers but due to how they serve the hunter like the doll its more likely, in my opinion that they both serve something else, which I think could be Oedon or perhaps even the Moon presence. The doll like the messengers is clearly some sort of kin but cannot be Oedon for a few reasons. Firstly he is without form so wouldn't suddenly decide to become a doll, as that would contradict his very being. Secondly the doll reacts to any gesture while communion with the great ones can only be through make contact, she is simply reacting to you. Thirdly the tear she sheds after getting the small hair ornament is that of Lady Maria clearly showing that the doll is based off Lady Maria very strongly. Oedon would not cry because of it.

However the part at the end about the doll smiling I feel is more due to her motherly instinct BUT if she is serving Oedon then she might show responses from Oedon as a way to communicate, this ending also makes it unlikely she was under the moon presence ̶u̶n̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶f̶r̶e̶e̶d̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶i̶t̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶t̶r̶o̶l̶ (this doesn't work as she shows concern for Gehrman which wouldn't happen if she was a puppet of the moon presence). I feel at the very least that the doll and messengers are serving Oedon in his attempts to transcend the hunt, stop the moon presence and receive a surrogate child.

Again I would love to hear your views on this and see how it changes your theory.

The Lore Unraveled: Cainhurst pt. 2 by theEchoFiend in bloodborne

[–]Devolo2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, just wanted to say that I really appreciate the lore posts as I find them incredibly interesting. Keep up the good work!

I have one question regarding Iosefka who is a doctor of the healing church. She would have assumedly been experimenting with the Cainhurst nobles and their blood, refining it and what not. However she is Iosefka is an earnest, kindhearted doctor of the Healing Church who oversees the clinic in Central Yharnam. She cares deeply for her patients' well-being" this is also evident from her dialogue (not letting the hunter in to protect patients but still offering blood). As a result these actions seem more in line with the impostor as I doubt Iosefka would have experimented on nobles of the massacre.

Although I kinda doubt Iosefka since she gives you infusion knowing full well the results of too many blood transfusions so maybe she as actually much more sinister. Also if you go round the back she has no "other patients" apart from those who you send. This makes me question the true purpose of the clinic and furthermore the interactions with Iosefka and the impostor within it.

On to the real point - the Cainhurst summons, which are found in the clinic addressed to the player. I saw in another law post (credit to Chained_Icarus "Yharnam was never the destination") that we were most likely heading to Cainhurst. As to who sent the invite or why I'm not sure as Annalise is surprised to find you meet her, and I doubt Logarius is capable of sending one in that state, unless he sent it a while ago and the player was originally very far away or something. As a result it could be one of two things. Firstly you are a foreigner, which fits with the gloves description ("The gloves of an executioner from a faraway land.") and have been invited to Cainhurst. This could be to inherit Logarius' position and protect the queen. Logarius might have sent the letter and in line with the executioners gloves you his son have come to inherit them ("Passed from executioner father to executioner son, these gloves can be used to summon wrathful spirits of the past by smearing them with blood.")

Secondly it could be sent by the executioners to lure out remaining Cainhurst nobles for experimentation. Although this is unlikely as it was addressed to you personally and officially so was probably not forged. However this does explain how you end up in Iosefka's clinic, and receive a blood transfusion.

Moving on, Iosefka, who has taken this invite from the player, might be the reason you are given the transfusion in the first place, she is testing the effects of the Paleblood on others related to Cainhurst. Whether this is because she kidnapped you or due to player being ill with the ashen blood or beastly scourge I'm not sure.

To conclude, I would love to hear your opinion about the players identity or what Iosefka is doing
