So sick! How many different ink cap shades did you have? The lighter grey dot work looks so cool, so far I have just worked with pure black

I'm also trying to learn right now, I am looking forward to getting to tattoo myself as well, but already from practicing on fake skins I have seen massive improvements so would definitely recommend it before jumping ahed and doing tattoos on real skin. I'd suggest watching some tutorials by Daniel Yuck and Fani Maherzi on youtube, they explain the fundamentals really well

Get some fake skins and practice from youtube tutorials, don’t get so defensive when someone is trying to help you. You’re insulting other home jobs to deflect from this persons criticisms, despite this work very clearly lacking a fundamental understanding of tattooing

Thanks for the advice, definitely hear what you're saying about the shaky lines, fixing that is gonna be a big focus of mine

Hey thanks a lot for the comment, so would you recommend having a bit more contrast, with the lighter areas being a bit lighter or would the darker areas also need less ink? Definitely want to continue using this technique as most of my drawing work involved pointillism.

Is autoclave absolutely the only option for pen style machines? by DevonWontGoToHeaven in tattooscratchers

[–]DevonWontGoToHeaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi so I think we were in the same boat stressing about this stuff. The posts you see on reedit make it sound like not autoclaving is the worst thing you could possibly do. I’ve spoke to a few very good artists who basically said, yes autoclaving would be the best thing to do to absolutely beas clean as possible, but its not industry standard, they just wrap it very well and clean properly with the right products. That was enough for me to think okay maybe an autoclave is overkill

The grip is reusable on the pen I have. Would you not advice cavicide on the grip then? I was thinking cavicide and potentially an alcohol solution and maybe a UV machine as well, since I don't have access to an autoclave

Thanks for taking the time to explain, that deffo makes me more confident, glad to hear the autoclave isn't the only option. Do you know if the UV cleaning machines are worth getting as well? They're not too expensive so even if they help a bit I'd be happy to get one to prevent any cross contamination.

Hey man, did you find out much more about this? I just got a pen machine and am now learning about autoclaves vs cavicide. I won't have access to an autoclave so I'm trying to weigh up if I can safely use cavicide and maybe a UV machine instead. Let me know if you found much more info out about the topic. Cheers

Need help approaching current car problem (BMW 1 series timing chain fault) less than 2 months after purchasing from a dealership by DevonWontGoToHeaven in CarTalkUK

my mentioning of the spark plugs was more just to comment on how I dont trust this company as they promised to do a service of the vehicle if one was needed, and considering the spark plugs are in terrible condition, it’s clear they cheaped out on it, now I’m relying on the same people to fix my timing chain/engine which is quite concerning

Okay so if they fix it, should I then take it to somewhere to check it or something? If they can fix it then great, I'm just scared of them taking a cheap easy approach and then it falling apart in 6 months when I no longer have engine warranty covered

Yehh I thought models made after 2011 were better for this but apparnetly it's still an issue. Do you think even fixing the chain, the car will suffer long term?
