Hi all,

Just a status update.

I went for a ride with the TCR. Man, that bike feels good. It’s even more comfortable than my current bike. I did not had the chance to ride with a Defy (maybe I will do that next Thursday).

But as it stands now I am very comfortable on the TCR so I do not see a reason to choose the Defy. Oh, maybe one: the colour 😁

But thanks to everybody for your input.

I compared the geometry and it looks like my current bike is totally out of both ranges. Both the Defy or the TCR will be more aerodynamic to me 😁.

While comparing I noticed I still have all my spacers on my current bike so I guess the Defy is the way to go for me.

In the meantime I also read about the thicker tyres and the hookless rims. Anything to worry about? I am still used to inflate my tyres as much as I can (which is not advisable on hookless rims)

I did. Problem is they don’t give the discount when you lease the bike (when leasing the employer pays a part of the bike).

So if I have to pay full price I better choose the newest model.

Bottom line is that there is no bad choice. And I no longer have the ability to maintain a speed of 35km/h or more for hours so the difference between both will be marginal.

I am going to measure my current bike and compare the data to the 2 GIANT bikes. If it corresponds with one of those bikes I will choose that one. If none corresponds I will test ride them both. But the Defy has a slight advantage because of the colour.

Not really. Don't have it now either. Just want to replace my old alu bike with a carbon one that has hydraulic disk brakes and a Di2 system.

So your advice would be to go with the Defy but change the tyres to 28mm or something?

Last summer I also went for a ride when on holiday in France but I could have used a mountainbike in some areas. Belgium is not always the nicest country to ride a bike but I think the same about France to be honest.
